A book on wood

I once flicked through this book, whilst in the college library.

It uses American timbers, units, names, terms, standards etc, as it would because it's an American book.

I don't usually have a problem with using American names or terms when it comes to wood working , the things I have to give a little more thought to are the liquid measurements which do differ from ours .
 
I would recommend Cut & Dried by Richard Jones if you want a UK friendly book on how wood behaves.
