Hi all,
Just wondering, on the off-chance, anyone know where I can source some furniture grade salix in 3 or 4 inch thickness by 12 inch width by 1m (ooh mixed measure alert!) length. Doesn't have to be dry, and yes, I am on arbtalk and have asked around nearby tree surgeons and timber suppliers

Fair nuff, never heard of em before now but then they're 70 miles and on the other side of the Channel. Thats the Bristol Channel..
Will give them a bell, none of my usual suppliers stock willow or black poplar

Is Willow even a commercial timber, yes cricket bats are made from it but as far as I know they tend to grow their own.

Nope, willow is not a commercial timber, I'd settle for black poplar as they're both salicaceae, but that also is not really a commercial timber either. A pop has come down near me but its not a straight forward salvage so before I cut it (I have permission) I'll make one final round of suppliers. Turns out Lathams has a Bristol depot; I've emailed them.
