Always wondered, and never seen an explanation, why scroll chucks for wood work are always 4-jaw, whereas those for metal are almost always 3-jaw. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that "it is impossible to make an accurate self-centring 4-jaw chuck" but that was with reference to metal turning.
Anyone know the answer?
Apart from the jaws not really being the right shape, I find that the 3-jaw off my Myford metal lathe is OK on the Mystro in an emergency.
