Hi Rob

I have been using a Festool 1010 today whilst at Brads, and I thought it was a good router which has a quality feel. Two main points which stuck out for me were the (pistol) grip and the fact that the motor stops very quickly. But it does seem a very basic router for the (significant) cash outlay.

Just as an aside (and not wishing to thread hijack), do other users of the 1400 reckon it would be ok for worktop cutting? I expect so, but would like to hear it from the horses mouth, so to speak.

Cheers

Karl

EDIT - £330 for the 1010 !!!!

I asked about the 1400 ages ago on the FOG if it was ok for worktops and most answers from owners were yes it was fine. As I have the big Dewalt 626 for that I just bought the 1010 for smaller stuff to replace my old Elu 96e.

I got a pretty good deal £317 inc vat for a 110v of1010 and 800 rail, I see its now about £350 or more.

It's a lovely router and it is only a little bit basic by F's own high standards.

It is made by Mafell apparently, but their version (LO50E) was no cheaper when I was buying.

The other way way around I think. Festool make it for Mafell

I notice the Mafell looks like it comes standard with the fine adjustment side fence which is a £25 accessory with the Festool of1010.

Ah, maybe. They aren't identical but are clearly close relations.
