Tracking down the correct router cutter for a sash window

Maybe try Wealden Tools as well, they usually have a good range. Would have thought Roman Ogee would be close but as people have said might be hit and miss. A lot of the small differences come as a result of difference between imperial and metric if older windows I guess. Good luck!

Tormek 2000 Vs Robert Sorby pro edge

I have both a Tormek 2000 and a pro-edge. Both are great machines for, in my opinion, specific uses. I use the Tormek for sharpening my chisels and plane blades and use the pro-edge solely for turning tools. Not saying that you cannot do both on either machine just feel through using them that...

    New Year, new Bandsaw!

+1 for the Hammer 4400. Great machine in my opinion. Use mine for various tasks and always delivers. Would recommend the blade guides upgrade (ceramic) although not has experience of the ones they come with as standard to be fair. There is one for sale at moment on here. hope this helps a...

    MIG versus TIG

Thanks guys that's really helpful. The video were actually very useful and helps understand the basic requirements and I think you are right about finding a training course. Hopefully can find an evening introductory course in my area. Will let you know how I get on!

Sparks - how much is normal

Thanks Nick, Used it today and as you say now that the blade has bedded in a bit on the back edge the sparks have pretty much gone. Have left the thrust guide almost touching the back of the blade. I have to say the ceramic guides do seem quite impressive as you can get the tolerances very...

Sparks - how much is normal

That was my concern to be honest. It seems very counter intuitive. If you search ceramic guides and sparks it would seem to be a very normal issue - just seems very weird to me. Might try a different blade in the morning (just had Tuffsaws blades delivered) and see if that makes any difference.

Grinder Chainsaw Disc attachment Safety alert

Watching that video even though the nasty bits are thankfully not shown is terrifying. I did look at one of these when I wanted to do some power carving of a table top and decided at the time just from the look of it that it was to dangerous for me. Opted for the Kutzal blades instead which...

Sparks - how much is normal

Evening! Have been setting up my new bandsaw today which has ceramic guides, so far so good, and got to the stage of doing a few test cuts only to be greeted by loads of sparks coming from the top rear guide. Panic ensues, turn off the machine did a bit of research and find its quite normal to...

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

Black wood would be good yes and as you say I dont need a lot but just fancied using oak and vinegar, dont do it very often and always bits of oak hanging around the workshop so why not. If it doesn't work then I think you are right about the blackwood way forward. Would have to drive a fair way...

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

I also have had mixed results with vinegar and wool particularly with consistency of colour even when its the same piece of wood. When it does work it is an amazing finish. Will certainly keep those dyes in mind though.

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

It was somewhat dusty but did most of the heavy sanding round the back of the workshop, again using grinder with a 40 grit sanding disc. Its one of those pieces that if you wanted to make to sell would have to charge the price of a small family car to make it worthwhile!

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

Was wondering that myself. Had been in the workshop for about 6 months and little or no movement but think you might be right.

    Coffee Table WIP(sort of)

Hi all Started this a while ago as a side project and forgot about it so no photos up to this point but thought would share as quite like how it has turned out so far. It is Sapele, which was left over from a job for a customer. The folds/grooves were power carved using a grinder and then lots...

    For Sale Jet JWBS-16X

Hi all, I am selling my bandsaw. I have had it from new for I think about about 10 years. Runs well, has a few surface marks on the table but nothing serious, I have tried to show these. Have also attached the specification from the manual for info which should hopefully tell you what you need...

    Sketchup Shop

Thanks Dan that's useful. You are right of course and think at some point will bite the bullet and buy the PRO version (although slightly more expensive for us from local resellers at about £275). Kev

    Sketchup Shop

Hi Deema Wouldn't say I am wedded to it but find it easy to use and have always used it I guess. Will have a look at Onshape not heard of that one. Did try fusion 360 on a free trial but couldn't get on with but that's probably just me and being used to Sketchup.
