Im not fixed in my mind but the reason why Im currently considering this is in order to reduce wastage as if I cut each piece to end on a joist that wastage will probably go up quite a bit.     Thanks for the reply I have just re-ckecked my measurements and they are slightly out. Th wood is 19mm thick: the top section is 8mm, the tongue 6mm, the bottom section 5mm.
