    Ahh that’s handy, I have some tubes lying around. Yes the intention is to paint the pine parts the same colour as the staircase with a runner going up the middle. So then there are just oak accents showing (newels and handrails). We will if I can pull it off though.

    They are reasonably plumb, I recently stiffened them up with some extra coach screws through the base and into the stringer, so I braced them into a plumb position while doing that. But good point a bit of tolerance isn’t bad.

    As in don’t trim the cladding or pack it, but use a clear hybrid silicone to fill the gap + adhere the cladding to the post?
