Buying a fully electric used car

My 5 year old model 3 has lost 10% of its range, down to 209 miles nominal. Worth noting that degradation is not steady, for 3 years in the middle the reported range barely changed. Mostly charging at home, in the 30-80% range, a few long trips through France with back to back supercharging...

    Bathroom floor vinyl click flooring

We had two en-suites done, used some left-over click in one but the builder wasn't keen. He wanted us to use glue-down lvt, which we did in the other. Both of course fine after only 5 years and adults using them.

Folkstone Fixings (FFX) placed into Administration

Oops. I'm not too good with disambiguating things that look similar. The caution still stands though.

How easy is it to fit a kitchen?

Took me near enough a month for a B&Q kitchen, oak worktops, wet plumbing (but not electrics), making good and tiling. We wanted solid wood doors on the units which limited choice a bit but would have given the option of re-painting 10 years later if they were starting to look worn. No...

    Lathe choice at £1000

Thanks for suggesting it @Vulcan - further away than I would have looked, I think, but not too far for a bargain. To keep the thread useful, and since I still have the tab open, Good condition if well used. Probably a little longer than necessary, but it fits in the car, so that isn't a...

Post a photo of the last thing you turned

26cm ash bowl on my new MC1200F lathe (thanks to @Vulcan for spotting it). First large item I've made.

    Lathe choice at £1000

I bought the MC1200F, just collected it, assembled and threw in a 50cmx20cm ash log from the firewood pile as a quick test. I'm starting to think I bought almost exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    OBD scanner

Its a long time since I bought mine (for probably over £50), but I have seen that some of the better apps have a list of supported or recommended scanners. It used to be that the cheapest scanners were safely a waste of money, but I suspect the picture is more complex now.

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

No. Looked at one (in good condition) before buying my current house, and have reviewed several listed buildings permission as a parish councilor (mostly maintenance, but overly complex). Bought a 400 year old property in France, no restrictions above conventional planning permission...

    Lathe choice at £1000

Probably single phase, but could manage 16A I think. Have to admit, the Twister FU-180 looks like it might be a good choice if its a reliable machine...

    Lathe choice at £1000

Certainly open to 2nd hand, although I hadn't considered looking on facebook! Based on the lathe I'm using at the moment, the Axminster hobby lathes are clearly built to a price and I'm a bit dubious about how nicely they would work for small things (which I have not really tried yet). I don't...

    Lathe choice at £1000

I'm currently learning to turn with a borrowed AW240WL which is temporarily in my garage, and pondering what to buy for myself as a long term investment. I had started to think that an AW355WL might be a sensible choice, but looking at Axminster's professional range I am starting to think that...

New lathe not aligning - please help [Axminster AW205WL]

If its anything like the AW240WL I have, there is a fair degree of play in the tailstock mounting, without any obvious adjustment.
