    Mapping a field

    Look at an OS map - should be accurately scaled. Just depends if the field boundaries have changed since it was printed! 1:25,000 or 1:50,000 are the two common scales, but may be more detailed local ones near cities/urban areas.

    Depends - as with many things, it is a grey area. You can do it, but in the event of an accident it will be 50:50 in terms of fault at best. Anything under 30mph differential is generally easy enough to cope with if you are alert as a biker, but you learn to watch car tyres for starting to turn...

    Veneering question

    Do it in two pieces, 45 degree angle from the corner down. So the top piece and the side piece are separate. Even if you were able to do this in a single piece by 'forcing' the veneer into shape through a vacuum or cauls, because of the curve your grain is not going to run true
