    Stone forum

Thanks Richard, I've never been one for all that social media stuff and something in me rebels at the thought of joining in, though I suppose this forum is just an old fashioned aspect of it. It makes me wonder how today's generation will react to the new media in 50 years or so - will they be...

    Stone forum

I've just started doing a bit of stone carving again, first time in years and all those years ago I was a member of a stone carving forum, whose name escapes me now. I've spent ages online trying to find it or something similar without success, so I'm wondering if anyone on here knows of such a...

Convert old fridge for paint storage etc.

Yes - and you wouldn't have to worry about those nasty greenhouse gasses escaping in a few years, when the gubbins at the back rust away...

Hello all. I'm listing all this on behalf of my mother in law, whose partner is now sadly in the depths of dementia and therefore unable to put any of it to use. None of it is in my possession, so I can't really answer any questions except to say that none of it has had any real use to speak...

    Joke Thread 5

According to tradition, a Muslim martyr goes to heaven to find 72 (?) virgins waiting for him. Though in the case of an exploding pager, it would be hard to argue a case for martydom, as it would be involuntary, so probably not a joke after all...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I'm pretty sure PEG is what they used to stabilise the Mary Rose after it was raised form the seabed. Looked into using it years ago, when I was doing a lot of turning, but seem to remember you were very limited on what finish could be applied . Specifically, I think it was PEG 1000, but am...

    Electric vehicles

Urine may be sterile when it leaves, but it plays a huge part in the nitrogen cycle, breaking down into ammonia and its by products and is a seriously good plant fertiliser - commercially made nitrogen fertilisers take the nitrogen directly from the air and are massively energy intensive to...

    Electric vehicles

It always used to be used to great benefit, only stopped with the introduction of flush toilets and let's not forget that the largest amount of waste we produce is in the form of urine, which is hugely beneficial to growing stuff.

    Electric vehicles

As far as fertiliser goes, we all produce significant quantities of it every day (some more than others...!) then spend huge amounts of money and use lots of scarce water to treat it and throw it away, though I accept that some of it does end up on the land.. Would it not make much more sense...
