How do I remove the chuck on my Sealy GDM-50A/5/B pillar drill drill?

Update! Well I finally got it off - it was very stubborn and I used a mixture of a pair of wedges and a joint splitter (actually dismantled most of the machine and dropped the spindle off the bottom to get better access!). Once off I could see that it’s the spindle that is bent and causing the...

How do I remove the chuck on my Sealy GDM-50A/5/B pillar drill drill?

When the drill bit spins it isn’t true - not too bad when using a small bit, but I quite often use large forstner bits and the whole piece of wood wobbles, causing rough edges and the hole probably ends up one or two mm wider than it should. However I’ll definitely look into making sure there...

How do I remove the chuck on my Sealy GDM-50A/5/B pillar drill drill?

Thank you all for your help! I’m afraid I’m still struggling to figure it out. looking at the plans, I can’t see any sort of slot for part 79, except for a small square hole (photos attached). Having looked at a few websites and videos, I think that it’s a Jacob’s taper and needs hitting with a...

How do I remove the chuck on my Sealy GDM-50A/5/B pillar drill drill?

I have an old Sealy GDM-50A/5/B pillar drill and need to replace the chuck as it wobbles a bit. I can’t find a manual for it nor anything online. The most common way on YouTube seems to be to use something like a ball joint splitter and whack it (!) which I’ve tried, but it doesn’t work and I’m...

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

I like your solution of using a couple of washers. I am using a new blade, although wonder if it got damaged when it jumped off one of the times as it seems to have a bit of a kink in it now.

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

Yes, it looks like you've got the same issue as me! I've actually replaced the blade with a wider one for the moment as I need to do some re- sawing and it's much happier. I think trying to use a thin blade wasn't helping.

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

Thank you for your advice everyone. I've learned that the word for the alignment of the wheels is 'coplanar' and measured them. I've discovered that the lower wheel is 3mm further in than the top wheel, which might explain my issue. I've also found a French YouTube of someone who seemed to have...

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

Hiya, thank you for your reply - do you mean the tilt adjustment or are you referring to something different? I've been adjusting the tilt, which moves the blade slowly forwards and back on the top wheel until it is steady, but the blade moves the same distance along the bottom wheel as well -...

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

I recently bought a refurbished Kity 613 bandsaw and I’ve been having problems setting it up, but as I’m new to bandsaws I’m not sure if it’s me or not! I‘m aware that the Kity bandsaw is unusual in that the blade is set slightly overhanging the edge of the tyre, not the middle, but when I set...
