    Tips & Tricks

I don’t park the car in the garage these days, but when I did, I used to have a tennis ball on a piece of string, hanging from the rafters. When it touched the windscreen you stopped.

    Temporary workshop move

Back in the early 60s my dad built a lovely 14ft sailing dinghy with a minimal amount of woodworking tools. One Stanley no4 plane, tenon and panel saws, combination square, one chisel, ballpein hammers, and screwdrivers. That was about it apart from one ‘machine’ an electric drill. Interesting...

    Axminster m950 drive centre

Google turned up a set of instructions for the M950, and spec is shown a 2mt for drive and tailstock centres. I think Davegree is probably right

    2MT pigtail for polishing mop

Axminster customer service said that these will definitely be back in stock, in about 4weeks time, so I think I will hang on until then. If they become unavailable for any reason, I think I will get one to fit my Jacob’s chuck.

    2MT pigtail for polishing mop

Maybe that’s what a happening. Previously it showed stock due in 1 week, then this became 4 weeks. I’ll call them in the morning and find out when/if they expect stock. These are made in England, so maybe at their own workshops.

    2MT pigtail for polishing mop

I could do that if the delivery date keeps getting pushed back. I don’t think anyone else makes/supplies these. Or if they do they are keeping their details from Google

    2MT pigtail for polishing mop

Does anyone know of a source for these? Axminster sell them, but delivery is ‘in next 4 weeks’. I was hoping for something sooner. I know that there are other types available, but I do really want to go with MT in headstock

    Tissue for lathe work

Would never use anything other than tissue paper, and certainly no gloves other than latex disposables

    Food safe ca glue

That is part of what I was trying to find out about. Although it would be vinegar diluted with olive oil. The problem has more or less been resolved by Mrs C deciding to use it as a plant pot holder.

    Food safe ca glue

Thanks, that is what I was thinking. There must be crockery in use that is repaired with ca glue. And then there’s wound glue, used medically. As Lefley says, none of it appears to be approved as food safe

    Kitchen Cupboard

Eventually worked this out. The trim attached to the top, that fits flush to the ceiling can be removed (held in place by 3 screws and mastic seal to ceiling). Removed it replaced LED driver, and put everything back. All working now. Thanks for all responses anyway.

    Kitchen Cupboard

Thanks Disinterior. I seem remember the fitter telling me that the top panel could be removed to access the LED driver. I was really hoping to be able to do that, rather than take the whole cupboard down.

    Kitchen Cupboard

I did. They are separate transformers as they are either side of the hob. The lights are led lighting strips. I have got a spare so I will plug it in when I get home

    Kitchen Cupboard

I think that one of the transformers for our under- cupboard lighting has failed. The light doesn’t work and there’s no volts at the plug for the lights. The next one that is working, correctly shows 12v at the plug. I recall that the transformers were hidden between the top of the cupboard...

    Food safe ca glue

I need to fill a small hole (anout 1-2mm diameter) and crack on the inside of a walnut bowl that I have made. Intended use is as a salad bowl, so it will have direct contact with food, and vinaigrette dressing, which will obviously have a vinegar content. The question is, which ca glue is suitable?
