Doesn't really matter as I have a multistar chuck that fits both sides, hadn't found the LH one when I posted. And if you reverse the motors polarity all's fine for a mirror image set up

When I collected my ML8 it was set up with the bed out the left side. Is it possible the owner had decided to use the inboard or RH as the outbored as it's easier to get RH chucks? Do any others do this? Or am I missing something? TIA

Thanks for the advice on the "sand box" lol. I had considered adjustable feet anyway, because of the moving, but it's a bit complicated it seems. I also need to check that it will go through the gap I want it to, didn't think about the fact I moved it in peace's and want to move 4ft+ flat...

Hey AndrewG can't answer any of your questions but I do have an identical lathe. I am currently stripping and repainting mine. Find mine here uploaded lots of original paperwork. What I do understand is, for spindle work it needs to spin fast.

Today's job done! All paint striped off, taped up and ready for a new coat of paint. Most other parts need a second attempt at the paint stripper, some areas are so tricky to clean! Anyone want to show off their lathes?

I have no idea what a B* Screwdriver is haha. I always say WD40 but what I mean and what I use is 3-in-one oil spray. Not sure how similar that is to WD40? Brake fluid is a good call but I don't have any to hand unfortunately. Thanks for stopping in aswell

Mines really stiff, started to look at it just, winding it to both extremes, cleaning off as much discoloration as possible and what looks like green grease (it's absolutely mank). Helped with WD40 it seems to be getting looser in the barrel. Been spraying the WD 40 in the oiling hole on top...

Today's job was to strip the old paint off as much as I could! Head stock is ready to be taped up. Don't know if anyone else's looks like an angle grinders been taken to it? Lots of knocks and chips but I think that's to be exspected
