Remote control for a dust extractor?

I use this one on mine: https://amzn.eu/d/5sJSZVx Edit: Sorry, I answered too quickly on my phone and I was not thinking straight. My dust extractor doesn’t have a NVR switch so I don’t know what would be the effect. I can test it on my planner later and confirm the effect. Apologies. Edit 2...

My Woodwork Journey is about to begin - Total Beginner - I may need your advice.

Another example of small boxes using 10mm wood here. The "chunky" look was a conscious decision. Finished dimensions: 235mm x 72mm x 68mm. I will second @Jacob 's advice: "keep looking at stuff". It is great to expand our visual repertoire.

Milling some spalted beech for upcoming boxes. My next investment will definitely be a bandsaw, resawing by hand is quite a workout.

My first “router tray”. Maple, padauk, wenge and walnut. The lamination was originally for another project that is now indefinitely postponed.

Thanks Ian. The lap dovetail is on my list to try on the next project. This joint is called half blind tongue and rabbet or locking rabbet (I am sure there are some other names). More info here and here

I have just completed my first attempt on “traditional” woodworking: a small medicine cabinet. As a beginner hobbyist woodworker, It was a fun (sometimes frustrating) learning journey. Edit: added one more picture of the door frame detail. I dare not show the dovetails close-up as I...

    Another Unknown Sheffield Saw Company...

I have a vintage 14" undecipherable-brand saw that I acquired from Tooltique that looks exactly like yours. It came sharpened for rip cut with 8tpi and I love it for my small projects. The only partially-visible branding is this:

Sure, send me a PM with your contact. I have just built my shed/workshop this year too and I can give you a tour of my mistakes so that you don’t have to repeat them. 🤣

Cutting out small pieces using a router (or something)

Hi Croolis, If it helps, I have an old UJK portable trim router table that is just accumulating dust and taking up space in my workshop since I have upgraded. It’s yours for free if you can arrange collection from Loughton (IG10). I have batch produced some small boxes using mainly this setup...

Thanks all. @Stigmorgan I can't commit yet to the Secret Santa as my agenda for October - December at work is looking insanely chaotic at the moment. :( @Dauph you might want to check these videos here and here.

    Lets see your wood

I was evicted this week! I will explain. Since I started this woodworking hobby (around COVID lockdown) I also started buying wood “offcuts” on eBay and timber yards. I would spend £20-30 every other month. As I didn’t have a workshop until recently, these offcuts were all scattered around the...

Sub £1000 bench drill for wood, steel and aluminium in a tiny workshop?

I have a Bosch PD40, and for my very simple woodworking needs it fits the bill. I don't work with metal but this might be worth watching:

    Exterior House Design software

Hi Martin, Is this a skill that you want to learn to use in the future or is it really just an one-off thing? If it is the later, with your £50 budget I would consider hiring a freelancer on Fiverr to create the images for you.
