    Clarity on Record Power

Hi, Thought I'd say hello and ask how your search was going for a bandsaw? I'm also in Wiltshire and looking to upgrade to a bigger "proper" bandsaw. I'm just a hobbyist, I make jewlery boxes and like to try and wrap the wood grain all the way round, I also do a bit of wood turning. I'm...

Wanted David Barron dovetail saw guide

Thanks Gary, I thought I'd try 2nd hand first as I did find it new (on classic hand tools in fact) at £43 ! Which I thought was a little pricey for what it is. It's not that I can't cut dovetails, but more that for the special project I'm doing (an urn for my father in laws ashes) I need them...

Help please...timber for an ashes urn

Oh thank you, that's very kind in deed. However Oak is a preferred material of mine and I do have some. Additionally I'm currently thinking I may need a relatively thick board as I'd like to rip it down the middle to achieve the full wrap around grain effect.

Help please...timber for an ashes urn

THANK YOU!! Jeez sometimes the universe does freak me out a bit. Sat here chatting with my better half about her dad since my post and BOTH teak AND dovetails were mentioned! Yes I think teak could work. I'm just a little nervous about dovetails. It's not only the fact they are a little...

Help please...timber for an ashes urn

Hi, Sadly my father in law passed away last week, and my mother in law has asked if I would make an urn for his ashes. This is not only a great honour but also quite a scary responsibility. I'd like to do the man and our family justice by producing the best item I can. He was not only a lovely...

A garage full of wood to give away

Hi, So sorry to hear of your loss. I'm not far from b'mouth and would be happy to take any actual timber. I'm not a restorer and don't really use mouldings, but anything I can turn on a lathe or use for box making etc I would be able to use. I've never really used veneers but would love to...
