    Finishing issue

If you've got wax under a finish it's not going to stick. If it doesn't come up with fish eyes with the first coat I would be surprised. You could try rubbing hard with an acetone soaked cloth and scotch pad which might give you enough raw wood for the laquer to stick to. A thin shellac sealer...

    Sanding Sealer Question

Finishes don't raise the grain unless they are water based. You can raise the grain with a damp cloth on raw wood (best to sand it lightly after its dry with 320 or similar fine abrasive) The sanding sealer is as Johnny b says a laquer/finish with filler powder to build up laquer thicknes before...

Old knackered Karcher K7.20MX 1.034-850 Pressure Washer

I had 2 Kärchers the last one a K7 expensive and lasted about 20 hours over a couple of years. I binned it and swore never to get another Kärcher. I got a Stanley about a third of the price and it has been running for 10 years without any issues apart from the outside of the hose sheathing...

    Wood ID Please!

Looks like white American oak (the green end sealer makes me think it's American). Some guitar maker might bite your arm off for that mahogany if it's Brazilian. Cheers Andrew

    Making some 2mm laminate?

Pete's suggestion is good. You can get very high quality plywood from a radio control airplane shop. I get verythin plywood form a local shop here in Vienna https://kirchert.at/collections/sperrholz You should be able to get something similar in the UK or you could use thin vulcanised fibre...

    Bosch PBS 75 Belt sander

I've got a feeling your going to have to do a bodge on this one. I would imagine my idea of tapping a couple of holes and fitting grub screws into the pulley from both sides would hold it. some JB weld epoxy in there would solidify everything. Cheers Andrew

    Bosch PBS 75 Belt sander

If you can get a similar size pulley I would imagine drilling and threading a couple of holes on either side of the pulley and fixing on to the shaft with a couple of grub screws loctited in. Cheers Andrew

    todays mystery object

It seems a bit slim for a cockroach holder? stamping on them seems a bit more humane than setting fire to them!

Finish advice for walnut guitar amp head

If you think plastic coating stinks try polyester, that's the big daddy of smelly. Even better when sprayed. In all honesty i've always found any finishes that stink usually work much better than one's that don't. About 40 years ago I resprayed a lovely old Gibson switchmaster guitar with...
