I'm old enough to remember seeing the last British Rail train pull out of Swanage so I'm pleased they can make use of it.

A garage full of wood to give away

Hi As much as I would like to have some , these people are probably a bit closer. They are a volunteer group so would likely find a good use for it.

Found Anybody need blocks of metal

I'm in a similar situation with bins of off-cuts and wonder how I would come up with a fair price. I'm guessing the best-easiest way would price by weight. I am not selling at the moment as I'm not sure what the rules are on here.

    FFX - Festool 5ah batteries £65

    Wild fires in BC Canada.

I'm sure his family's billion dollar deal with BP signed back in August has absolutly nothing to do with his decision.

    1/2 INCH UNC TAP PROBLEMS

As far as I'm aware a 1/2" tap should be 12.7 mm so it's probably the tap. Maybe do a couple of test hole in some steel it may knock the burrs of that could be the result of manufacture.

    What is this ?

Quick update so I tried it on my old bench, this is my mech bench not my wood working bench, 20+ years old that I use for working on bike engines. So I took the top off and turned it over, gave it a quick sand down a 2 coats of the wax after thinning it down. Definitely glad I didn't try it on...

    What is this ?

OK thanks for the reply's , so I'll try white spirit instead of turps to thin it ,especially as it a lot cheaper, and I'll try it on something I'm not to fussed about, maybe my old workbench top, just to see what it does. I just hate to throw anything out if it's still usable :) .

    What is this ?

Having a clear out of the old shed and found this, it's obviously some type of wood wax/polish but I can't read what type or make. It's about 3/4 full but of the consistency of petroleum jelly so I'm thinking to add some turps so I can pour it out into a jar and hopefully use it once I know what...

can somebody tell me what this is?

Something like this was one of the first thing we made as an engineering apprentices .All you need is a 30-40 mm square block of mild steel and just drill required size holes through.we made one for taps and one for tapping drills.
