    Salvaged Wood Haul

Thanks for all the support, encouragement and tips/advice. The nails don't look too bad. most of them are small, not going all the way through and sticking out enough to grab but I will probably regret saying that tomorrow. I will maybe remove the nails and trim the pieces tomorrow and be lazy...

Want to get back into woodworking, but need space. Help!

Let us know how it goes. It's easy in the world of youtube woodworkers to think you must have every tool under the sun or you can't do any woodworking but that's bs. Like many people have already stated, there are so many options for you that you could still do at home. Wood carving, hand...

    Salvaged Wood Haul

Always been too scared to ask building sites or people with skips if I could take the perfectly good and useable wood I have seen them throw out. Well I finally asked and they said yes so here is what I managed to pick up. Might look like trash to most people but it's a proud moment for myself...

MFT and Rail Square - my thoughts

That was very informative, thank you. How often do you find yourself using the sliding portion of your mitre saw now you have the MFT setup? I plan to get a MFT and currently have a standard mitre saw so I was curious if you could do without a sliding mitre saw.

Workshop Advice Needed - Tool Wall vs Systainers

Hi, I currently keep all my power tools in systainers and my hand tools in 2 metal cantilever tool boxes. This is for added convenience if I ever need to do any DIY around the house or at somebody elses house I can quickly take the tools required. The second reason is for added security as I...

    Record Power air filters

I spent ages contemplating if I should get one. Initially I bought and tried a 5 stage HEPA air purifier [not sure how well it worked]. Then finally decided to just pull the plug as it should help with your health and wasn't too expensive. I wasn't sure if it was working but I looked at the air...

CCTV & Alarm or neither - Detached garage workshop security

Hello, I am in two minds and would appreciate some advice. This year I purchased an alarm system and CCTV for my detached garage workshop. My dilemma is whether or not to install them. Aside from the obvious advantages, some cons that have bothered me are that they would attract attention to...

    Is this asbestos?

You can't tell if something is asbestos just by looking. I would recommend taking a sample and using a test kit like the one in the link below. I used the same kit for my garage roof and it was an easy and quick service...
