Sawn to PAR - how much to allow?

Thanks for all the feedback. I went ahead and ordered the 32 x 150mm Red Grandis. I looked at the 50mm but it was twice the price, Accoya also far too expensive. The glued joints from laminating two 32mm sections will be protected from the weather, one side in the DGU rebate and the other...

Update for those interested. Got the new outfeed roller fitted, everything lubricated and aligned, new blades. This is a fantastic machine!

Sawn to PAR - how much to allow?

I am looking to buy some sawn sapele or red grandis for some window sashes. This will be my first big project and first time buying sawn. I plan to buy 32 x 150mm sections, flatten one face and glue two lengths together to make larger, more stable sections. Once ripped and planed and...

Jet JPT-260 spare parts - have I made a mistake buying this machine?

Certainly a nice option to sleeve with oilite @Sideways and thanks for the tip about the turbine oil @Inspector. As for getting the roller reconditioned, I imagine it would cost more that a new one (currently) but something to keep in mind. Thanks

Jet JPT-260 spare parts - have I made a mistake buying this machine?

Rubber is delaminated from the outfeed roller and the bearings are plain bearings made from 'powdered steel' as circled in the image. Replacement bearings are 'powdered brass' and Tool France (thanks for the heads up @Nick.) have quoted £50 each! I passed on them and will just keep the steel...

Jet JPT-260 spare parts - have I made a mistake buying this machine?

On the weekend my near new just out of warranty DeWalt DW-733 thicknesser motor burnt out. I have hardly used this unit but it appears to have a very low duty cycle 1 minute ON 2mins OFF (30%). On the same day the fence clamp on my bench top planer broke. Ugh. Ok, so I rushed to buy a used...

    Where to buy Accoya?

I am looking at making some windows and wondering where people buy Accoya from? It just seems to be so very expensive. For example, 50mm x 100mm is £50 a metre! How does anyone justify these prices?

    shop around.

I am once again in the market for some D4 adhesive and shocked at the prices. It does make you wonder whether some retailers are price gouging. How can Toolstation justify £14.29? Last time I purchased from them in 2017 it was £6.51. A quick search on eBay, eroofing, including P&P: £8.99 for 1...

Workshop LED lighting making me motion sick

@Myfordman Yes fine with normal tubes. @Oddbod70 Yes I think constant current is the key. I have ordered some of these: 1200mm x 300mm LED Panel Light (4000k) I will update this thread on whether it solves the problem or not. Thanks

Workshop LED lighting making me motion sick

Hi, A few months ago I fitted four LED batten lights to my single garage workshop. Turns out, I cannot be in there for more than 15 minutes without feeling motion sick. I figure it is the imperceptible flickering (which is noticeable when taking a video with my phone). Lights are these...
