Thin 0.25mm guitar string type wire

10m or even 5m will be fine. I bought some 0.3mm jewellery wire the other day from Amazon but it wasn't what I was after as it wasn't springy – it’ll get used but not for this.. The stuff I’m after naturally wants to straighten itself, like guitar string wire.

Thin 0.25mm guitar string type wire

An explanation of proposed usage: Many year ago my job was assisting anaesthetists in hospital operating theatres. One diagnostic technique we used was to insert a central venous pressure catheter for monitoring blood volume. The CVP line was a long thin plastic tube that was inserted over a...

Threading tap - square conversion to 1/4 or 3/8 drive

You raise a good point about searches being US centric. With time and AI, hopefully things will be more regional and better.

Threading tap - square conversion to 1/4 or 3/8 drive

Hi All, I infrequently use taps and dies and usually put the tap into a battery drill and drive them slowly in. With that in mind is anyone aware of a convertor/adaptor that has a female square socket for the tap and on the other end has a 1/4" or 3/8" drive female. Many thanks.

    Shelving support braket spacing calculations

Many thanks for all your help. I'd love to use birch ply but at £134.00 a sheet (+VAT = £160.80) I can't justfify it. Using 3 supports for a 1m shelf is a bit ott but as the WBP ply is only £25.00+VAT it will add rigidity and reduce sagging. Having the oak edge will also give the apperance of...

    Shelving support braket spacing calculations

Hi All, After 30 years pressure from management we now have a small walk-in larder with a 1060 x 730mm footprint and a 2560 height. I'm planning some Spur type shelving on 2 sides. The long shelf will be 1050 x 290 x 18mm in WBP ply with an oak lip of 10mm on the front edge on 2x 270mm...

Simple milling using a pillar drill - is it possible?

Thanks guys, I'm not at all surprised by the points you raise. My big problem is space. I could probably afford a second hand or new Chinese milling machine but have nowhere to put it! The other issue regarding my pillar drill (BOSCH PBD40) is the speed range (200-2500) and am not sure if...

Arcing universal (brushed AC) electric motors

Many thanks for your help on this. I've seen this happen to quite a few brushed motors ranging from a DeWalt mitre saw to a Henry. In both of these cases I don't recall a starter capacitor. When the next one turns up I'll do the cleaning between the commutator pads trick. I have one of those...

Arcing universal (brushed AC) electric motors

Hi All, I have had a few mains powered brushed motors fail on me over the years where they start arcing excessivly, loose power and sound horrible. In cases like these i've examined the motor and found no fault e.g: 1. the commutator and associated rotor windings have no short or open...

Thanks again for all your help on this. I have a 160A stick welder which I use once a year and struggle with it shorting (if that's what it's called) where the stick attaches to the work piece and I have to open the stick clamp to break the circuit. I'm sure it's down to my lack of skill and...

Parkside (Lidl) Flux Cored Wire Welder PFDS 120 A1

Many thanks for your help on this. The Lidl machine concerns me because it only has a single control knob and most of the other machines have 3 or more. I only plan to use it for simple jobs like making angle brackets. I'm not planning to make a car with it..
