Woodworker's Insurance, who do you recommend?

Try Aviva, been with them for years, no one else can get anywhere close to matching their price. Had to claim once when the workshop was broken into and they were pretty easy to deal with.

    Another vote for Tuffsaws

Latest Sedgwick CP Construction quick review

There’s so little information about the new CP and nothing about the spiral block now available, I bought one earlier this year and was a little worried due to the lack of info. Turns out it’s an excellent machine and the spiral block is also very good, it’s also used on Robland machines which...

    Recommendations for Mortise Chisels

Another vote for the Narex mortice chisels, I bought a set of four and a couple of extras last year for use by students. They have been great, keeping a good edge and survived the odd drop unscathed. Handles are a bit ‘meh’ but for the money they are hard to beat. I have had a set of LN mortice...

    Cabinet Maker'sRasps

I love my Auriou rasps, they work beautifully! A little on the spendy side but you certainly won’t regret the investment. As mentioned by Blackswanwood Workshop Heaven have their own range which look very appealing...

Here’s my most recent student Simon with his three day Roubo workbench made week. First one of 2022 😀

    Polestar 2 anyone.?

A guy who came on my first workbench course back in June had a Polestar and absolutely loved it! Goes very well and a useable range (closer to 200miles than the claimed 300). Seemed better put together than Tesla’s.

    Circular tenon cutter

I’ll echo Paulm’s comments, I’ve been using Veritas power tenon cutters since 2014 and they have been absolutely brilliant! The blades keep a good edge even when used on kiln dried hardwoods (oak, ash and beech mostly) but work much much better on green wood. The built in blade sharpening jig is...

Ah by legs I meant literally the 4 legs that came from 2” Euro oak, the cross rails and slats were as with the top English oak 😅 Thanks for the kind words!

Thought I’d share this arts and crafts inspired table made last week by one of my 2 day class students. All from English oak apart from the legs which are Euro oak, finished with Osmo satin hardwax oil.

Domino Jointers Are they really worth it, or just a gimic

I’ve had the 500 since 2013 and wished I’d not waited so long to buy it! Picked up the 700 two years ago, which has been brilliant for chunkier work. The 500 does get used most, neither have completely replaced traditional m/t joints but have certainly added speed and flexibility to my work.

    Game Changing Tools

I think the single biggest game changer tool for me has been the domino jointer. I finally bought the original df500 back in 2013 and instantly regretted not getting one sooner, within a month it had paid for itself!

    Your Cars

Some lovely machines on this thread 😎 My wife and I seem to have somehow ended up with a collection of 5 vehicles, some more practical than others 🤦‍♂️ Here’s a glimpse of the more interesting ones, there’s a Honda Hornet 600 and a modern Skoda fabia estate out of view (ran out of driveway space 😂)

Been a fairly busy week! Set of three ‘Kingston Tables’ along with an oak bench completed and collected. Plus 3 days of teaching resulting in 4 rather nice stools leaving the workshop 😃

Oak and glass dining table! A really interesting commission, it’s a wedding present for the clients granddaughter and features a slab of oak from a tree that grew next to their family home! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Most recent interesting thing I’ve made, a mini workbench with a Roubo style split top. Adding some much needed storage/workspace while at the same time using up some off cuts that have been hanging around for years and testing out my new Xl domino! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
