Woodworking & craft shows and events…

I know a few of you are planning to go to Harrogate this Friday-Sunday. If you do you'd be very welcome to pop in and say hello at our stall - the Northern School of Woodwork - on Stand 42 at the back of the hall opposite the entrance right in the middle. It's my first time exhibiting at...

    quick capacitor question

Afternoon all. I think the capacitor on a Basato 5-2 bandsaw is knackered I have looked on RS components - and I think this one matches the machine (see picture): https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/film-capacitors/1353592?gb=s As ever, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing - so if anyone...

    Capacitor for Felder AF22

Afternoon g=folks. I believe that the capacitor on my felder extractor needs replacing. Its previous owner has told me it has been an weakness before. Two questions - 1) if the motor has stopped working is this a sensible first step? 2) can anyone recommend a a good source for a swiftly...

    Peter Millard and Benchdogs video

I don't think this has been posted here - apologies if it has: I found it fascinating. Also I think it relates well to the cost of some items. An incredible investment in technology to manufacture over here. I have a few benchdogs things but this genuinely makes me want to support them...

    sand blasting

Hi All. My local sand blasting man has retired; I regularly use his services for cleaning up rusty vices, old tools etc. I'm thinking of investing in a sand blasting cabinet to do it myself. Does anyone do this and if so any recommendations? I have been looking at the Machine Mart cabinet...

    drill depth stop question

Evening all. Quick question - I have a pretty, but pretty useless colourful anodised Axminster set of drill depth stops/collars. They often slip I seem to remember hearing that there is a really good "side fixing" set that don't rely on an a little grub screw driving into the bit. Make sense...

How a Festool saw is made.

Thank you. I love seeing how my stuff is made. Really enjoyed the Lie Nielsen plane video as well. (I have a totally irrational hatred of the Dustylumber guy based on i) him wearing his hat backwards and ii) his smug face. I'm sure he is very nice though and as my partner points out to me...

Good description of how a handplane works.

    Simonswerk hinge quality?

Was put on to simonswerk hinges relatively recently. I'd say the ones I have received are way better value/quality than the competition. Not Brusso quality of course but nowhere, nowhere near the price. I recommend simonswerk to others. I agree that yours are distinctly dodgy and need returning.
