wood turning chisel any ideas what it is?

It might be one of those differently designed beading/ coving tools. I have one without the tapered cone shape on the back, but with just the one angled facet.

    Not Noticed This Before

I've just seen that B&Q are selling some Axminster stuff. The Moxon Vice in particular. Also listed are other vices and vice fittings. Is this a new departure for them, now they are reducing their number of outlets?

    Tins of Filler Not full

Whether it fits neatly into the tin is surely , neither here nor there. If it doesn't and the volume appears less, the evidence of your eyes could convince you that you are being short changed. However if the weight corresponds to what is written on the tin - you aren't. The constant here will...

    Parquet Floor Restoration Issue

You should let them know that you are not satisfied, as the staining is still evident. Applying varnish can be like a " magic colouring book". and imperfections are really high-lighted. It was at this stage they should have stopped and had a discussion about what else could be done, including...

    Tins of Filler Not full

It could well be "shrinkflation". But, if it is then the weight will still have to correspond with what is written on the tin. Maybe it is the different weights of the powders used by the manufacturers, that gives rise to the varying volume of the products,

    One Farmers point of view

I do... The point I was making ( with tongue in cheek ) was that they are unlikely to go ahead at the present time, given the reaction from the public. It would simply be bad for business.

    One Farmers point of view

It really is quite a simple business decision.to make. In light of the successful trials of Bovaer, all Arla have to do is start having it added it to the feed of all the dairy cows that supply their company. They can then sit back and wait to see what happens. Simple, really. :)

    What Generator To Buy

Thanks, one and all for your replies. As we have bottled gas, then boiling a kettle isn't a problem. We also have an oil fired Rayburn. So we do have a few other options when the power goes off. And, as far as noise levels go, we are a field away from our nearest neighbours. I am thinking that...

    What Generator To Buy

Having been without electricity for 2 1/2 days directly after Storm Darragh ( and for a further day after that). We have finally decided to invest in a generator of sorts. The minimum it will need to do is protect the contents of the freezers,. and allow us to charge up the phones, without which...

    Cheap drill light mod?

On one particular site where I was working, I used to walk around at night with my drill slowly revolving with the led on, so that I could see to lock up the premises before leaving.

Amazing....He does it, so well, so I don't feel I have to. :giggle:

    Things that "turn" up

Surely it isn't going to not wobble. At least, until it has been trued up on the lathe. I would not expect to be able to place a circular blank on the lathe and not get some degree of run-out. So, a very slow speed and a bowl gouge should help establish the true outer circumference. I don't...

Planes with ridge body better or worse?

There is a guy on YouTube who shows and talks about this type of plane. If I remember correctly, the rib was introduced at the same time as a change in the composition of the cast-iron/steel.

Planes with ridge body better or worse?

Is the O.P. talking about those with the corrugated base that you mention - or is he talking about those with a rib/ridge down the centre of the body which forks of to form a Y at the handle?

    Joining metal components

Given the disparate metals you are attempting to join then I would have to agree that a glue of sorts would be your best option,The body parts of modern cars are often glued together. If the materials in question could all be silver soldered then starting with the highest temperature ones you...

Cable entry in cupboard door - help please

How about one of those 80mm cable entry grommets, or outlets that, you have on desks. Available in different colours. Could even be fitted at the back of the worktop. I believe a standard 3 pin plug will fit through them. EDIT, Ooops! just read the " without disconnecting " bit. One might...

    Is this a good/reasonable price for a rpbs12 bandsaw?

Yandles price for the new model BS300E is £700 . so at under a quarter of this it could be construed as reasonable. Subject, of course to condition

    Red Warning - Storm Darragh

As a brief post-script to this thread, we have, mercifully, survived the storm fairly unscathed - some greenhouse glass and the top of a tree broken off; a rather fine coating of salt on all the windows- obscuring the view out; and all the veg growing in the garden flattened and blackened...

    Red Warning - Storm Darragh

Storm Darragh is very much still with us,-even now. We avoided the power cuts , but our neighbour has been without power since 1am. Lots of trees are down and the wind is still roaring outside.. The Dyfed police have declared a major incident ti the counties of Ceredigion Carmarthen Powys and...

    One Farmers point of view

The trouble is , it is the ancillary products like yoghurt and cheese that will prove more difficult to obtain., As Arla supplies many other dairy businesses with milk , it is going to be quite complicated working out which products to trust.
