Sorry for the delay in posting results, but got new brushes and went through inserting etc and cleaning everything, but it was to be of no avail as motor went on fire and had to scrap. Ended up purchasing a new extractor after much reading and review reading. So all back on track for some...

Checked out Dennis Wilson of Glenavy, explained situation regarding brushes. Said to call up as he had every type. As when I pushed the brush back in it went all the way and more. So think time for new ones and hoping that solves it. Will keep posted as calling up today for brushes. :D

Cleaned up the brass copper looking thing the commucator and rubbed it down with very fine paper. Also cleaned end of brush but still sparking bad. Think it might be the brushes. But don’t know where to get replacement ones as have checked online but to no avail. The search continues as have to...

Thank you will look closer when I get home as at work now. Some things can’t be without and that’s a dust collector. Another is an excellent source of knowledge of which I’m grateful of here. Will let you know how I get on.

Hi every one, new here and we’ll a bit of a novice with a bit of hunger to learn etc. Have a record dust extractor but today it went pear shaped. As started to spark. Sprayed electrical cleaner onto motor and brushes left to dry, hoping it would only be dust build up. But no joy as more sparks...
