    Hand saw for tenon cheeks

Hell they're some weapons aren't they? What a collection. A friend of mine who now owns Salisbury conservatories use to swear by the jap chiesels when he started out making beech benches. If the saws are as good as those then I would be in for a treat. Cliff 8)

    Hand saw for tenon cheeks

Thanks Ross that's some good info. Not used those saws before. I've always mounted the wood at an angle in a good 'workmate' and worked from both sides of the tenon, so that there is an accurate cut both sides, then cut down the whole width down to the shoulder. I've used a sharp western...

    Hand saw for tenon cheeks

Yes many thanks I'm not so concerned with the shoulders, I have a decent tenon saw for those, and have done many. The cheeks are the things and I would need a big bandsaw which would be the first route. I may try the router method to within a distance from shoulder. Had thought of that...

    Hand saw for tenon cheeks

Hi Can someone(who has had the misfortune to do it) recommend a hand saw for cutting large tenon cheeks? It has become increasing obvious that I am unable to do them by machine, so hand cutting is going to be the way forward. We are talking twin tenons in bt and mid rails for doors. Stock...

    Kity K5 or what?

Hi This planer the 635, is it capable of planning 50 x 200 do you think? Just put a new pair of blades in it and got the thicknesser working. Seems fine. Wondered on its upper limit? thanks Cliff 8)

    Kity K5 or what?

Thanks Bob, your're probably right, but I can't shift it. Been trying all morning, rusted solid. Tried the usual rap treatment. I managed to lock the shaft with a jubelee, can't risk damage otherwise. Probably needs heat treatment. but I don't have that with me(long story). thanks again...

    Kity K5 or what?

Thanks to you both. Did you get the pm alright Bob? I may try and swap the chuck for a 13mm. More cutters out there for this size. Cliff

    Kity K5 or what?

I took my life in my hands this afternoon and produced this glazing bar with the spindle moulder. I have no pressure guards and an alu table, does anyone know where I might get a shaw guard or similar? Powertools where did you get suitable drills for the mortiser? Most have 13mm shank which...

    Kity K5 or what?

Yeah that's the gist of it. The table goes in out and side to side. It is what is is. So it will drill the holes, join them up and then one would have to square the shoulders up. Can't decide what is more hassle, a router or this. When mortising for twin tenons on 50mm stiles the router...

    Kity K5 or what?

There isn't a chisel Mike, just a rotating chuck with a drill bit that drill the holes. At least that's how I see it. Got to research some slot drills. Cliff

    Kity K5 or what?

Many thanks. It's the drill I'm interested in. Does anyone know the right cutter to get and where? Need to cut a fair few mortises. And can't raise the thicknesser bed, socket won't work anymore Attached a pic. Manual anyone? Cliff 8)

    Kity K5 or what?

Right. I'm new to the forum and have just read an enormous post on the K5, so some of the questions are now answered. Just to say that mine has the green stand with straight legs and red guards, although the spindles a bit sparse. If anyone can contribute then all the better and it looks...

    Kity K5 or what?

Hello I have just aquired(long story)four pieces of Kity machinery. They are as follows: Circular saw - 617 Planer - 635 Spindle moulder - 626 Mortiser?? - 659 They are mounted on a table and driven by a central 1100w motor. I accepted them as I'm a joiner by trade and have used some...
