Nev, thanks for that, I had no idea zip bolts did a bolt for that. I've ordered one and waiting for delivery, going to use a 35mm white plastic cover for the hole ( from a kitchen cupboard door) then it's easy to take apart again. Thanks everyone for your ideas, Nobby

Thanks Naz, I was thinking of using handrail zip bolts and a small blob of silicone to hold the top spacers in place. Bolt wise are you talking something like 12mm x 150mm with quite a coarse thread bonded into the newel ? Should do the trick as long as it's not over tightened ? Many thanks, Nobby

Hi there, I've got a client who wants the bottom newel post, handrail and 8 lowest spindles to be removable. The two kites and low headroom prevent them getting anything large up the stairs. I've thought about cutting the newel down and using some fairly hefty dowels but once it's all glued back...
