    perform mortice machine

As the previous posters say, the "hold down" isn't used by many, me included. When set up, do NOT drive the chisel in the cut full depth, thereby trapping the chisel, I start away from the finish end, and only go in about 20-25mm, lift the chisel out and next mortice beside the last one a bit...

How to fit handrail into newel posts?

You'll find by removing some floor boards, both the full and half newels were fitted at the same time as the handrail, and will not fiddle in place with the angles involved. They would have been half lapped or saddle jointed on to the adjacent trimming and trimmed floor joists, and floored...

    Advice for building this?

Mdf, ply or timber would all do, I'd rebate, pin and glue the 4 sides, which I think helps just that little bit for strength and glue area on 2 sides instead of 1 butt end although the bottom when fixed will add strength. Looks nice and functional and fun to make and paint (?) I'd make a...

    homemade table saw

Fully agree with the top, very useful. Been hunting round and found Solent Tools seem to have spares for you're saw bench should you need any bits, I dare say that a replacement motor will be expensive, or brushes may be too late, link below. Regards Rodders http://www.solenttools.co.uk/

    homemade table saw

Hello Accyjoiner and welcome, The sawbench you mentioned in you're first post looks to be a cheepy and hardly merits the locating and fitting of a longer arbour and the beefier bearings needed to support the Dado sets. An outside motor would be OK and suitably guarded obviously. This subject...

    Toolfair in Exeter

Yep! went today, seems top heavy with electrics, lighting and such, the Milwaukee stuff seemed to sell steadily, Probably most popular. Need augers?

If these are the same as Ridgeway, they're very good! I had to change 6 external mortice locks and my usual auger just would not look at drilling one painted door for the Mortice, could have been oak, or anything. Bought one of these "shorties" and it went through to mortice in situ very well...
