So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Much as I hate what the tories have done to the UK, that's one thing that can't be fully laid at their feet. Maybe they could have helped a bit, but the death of the high st has been under way for decades. Big supermarkets > out of town retail parks > internet shopping > online banking all have...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

This doesn't make any sense. There's no 'window'. I can't see how NHS pensions are effected by any changes in the budget.

I can't see how genuine freelancers can be hit by anything in this budget.

You don't have to read it, you can just scroll by. On the other hand there's been some staggeringly poor understanding of the issues that have been revealed and corrected here.

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Yet again you've missed the point. It's about people getting poor advice to take advantage of tax loop holes. Not such a risk if it's only about avoiding some tax, a LOT worse if it risks loosing your home and possibly becoming bankrupt. Ever been in a council funded care home ? You really...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

It might be worth reminding you that pensions schemes were designed to buy annuities with. Only in relatively recent years (post '95) were regulations relaxed to allow the options of draw down that meant there might be some funds remaining after death that might become part of a person's estate...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Which would be a very risky plan. Much like the 'with profits' endowment plans sold back in the 80s which failed and left people with insufficient returns to pay off their mortgages. Get the wrong investments, or have tax free allowances change in the future, and you have no home and no...

That was put in place by the last government. Reeves said nothing about VED that I heard. Quite possible those changes were deemed enough and not worth further changes.

That hasn't changed. There was media speculation a week ago it might be capped, but there was no mention in Reeves speech today.

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

Go and look it up and stop making stuff up. Dependant on circumstance (married or single) inheritors might not have to pay anything on up to £1m estates. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/inheritance-tax-planning-iht/ "meaning together a couple can currently leave £1 million tax-free (2 x...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

That's a great example and why this lower limit will get a kicking once people realise the full impact of it. The four employee issue will further complicate this. I was surprised that the leak of lowering the limit of tax free lumps sums from pension schemes didn't get implemented. Similarly...

So what are peoples thoughts and any potential impact on yourself

WTF are you on about, it's not 'stolen'. Let's be clear; When you put money into a pension scheme you get tax relief, firstly on the input payments and on interest earned throughout it's life. At retirement you can get 25% of the total accrued back tax free. Is that fair ? You can then either...

    Beginner router kit

Generally sets are a bit of a waste of money as you'll buy cutters you'll never end up using. However for that price, £22, it's probably worth it. There's probably 4 or 5 cutters there you'll find useful in the long term, so a decent saving over buying individually. Trend used to be a well...

Considering dipping toe into 3d printing so what do you think of this one?

Well, I'm the third contributor to this thread to say avoid Creality based on actual experience, which should be pretty damming. Go and read on other forums and you'll find plenty of people saying the same thing. Sure some people will get a good one, some will also have lower expectations or...

    Krenov planes

I made myself a Krenov style plane a few years ago. I imported a Hock blade for it that takes a good edge. An interesting project, but it hardly gets used. I find it difficult to adjust compared to standard planes. My Grandfather's old Stanley No4½ is always my first go to.

Considering dipping toe into 3d printing so what do you think of this one?

Sure, some people get lucky with their printers that work and it's good to read you're happy with it. There are a few aspects of Creality's designs and implementations that are very good, but those don't out weigh the problems. Having dealt with Creality's support for the CR10SE, I would NEVER...

Considering dipping toe into 3d printing so what do you think of this one?

Based on what I've read and my own experience, I think it's best advice to newcomers to FDM printing to keep their build plates fastidiously clean. The PEI build plates (when clean) shouldn't need any extra glues or sprays, except in very particular situations. It's easy for people to forget...

Considering dipping toe into 3d printing so what do you think of this one?

Good choice. I ditched my Creality printer and bought a Bambu A1 about three months ago and haven't looked back. It's been excellent. Do read the instruction manual and Wiki before assembly and first use. Most problems you read on the FB group are just user error; Failure to clean the bed...

    Combined Flu ***

What isn't well appreciated is how the development was "rushed". I know someone working at John Radcliff during the pandemic and have heard first hand how huge time savings were achieved. Simply put; eliminating bureaucratic delays. Normally if you need a tool for research or trial production...

Folkstone Fixings (FFX) placed into Administration

Were those figures before they closed Nuneton and reduced the High Wycombe store by a third ? they're certainly working at cost cutting.
