no worries steve, i have looked a buying plane parts on ebay, at the minute there aren't many to choose from. If i bought another plane, to use as a donor it probably would be better than the one i am trying to restore. Therefore, another plane to add to the collection, i can't justify...

Thanks for the reply Donald, i saw that a while back and thought my prayers where answered. But, with no success. I tried the brass adjustment nut on a friends faithfull no.4 plane and it wouldn't thread on easily to the stud. Different thread pitch, cut etc.... i have asked a few engineers...
