Thanks to everyone for the input. Going to take a chance on the Bosch GST150. I see it comes either with a D handle or in a barrel style so I'll need to have a think which might suit me best. Probably the D handle, as I'm used to having a trigger switch. Screwfix seem to be cheapest atm.

Putting a silencer on the exhaust valve your camvac, venting it outside, makes a huge difference to the noise level in your workshop.

My wife does it with shoes, I do it with tools. We both know the other party is at it, but we never let on.

It is predictable slow through a tack, but great on a beam reach. The sail does furl round the mast. I've got it set up with a Norwegian style tiller, and usually sail kneeling on a foal pad. It's got a reasonable turn of speed. In my book nothing beats sailing something you built yourself.

This is a Mill Creek. The big guide is a bit more beamy .This is really a decked canoe about the same length as yours, the main hull beam is 33 inches. Its more like an open boat than a kayak. The 10ft breadth with the outriggers gives it a lot of stability, usually sails with one outrigger...

All good advice. I Iaminated 2 x 10 ft curved outriggers for a sailing canoe. Involved clamps every 4 inches onto a form screwed to the workshop floor. Epoxy everywhere, lots of expletives and panicked tightening and loosening in an attempt to get the 8 very slippery laminations in place...

I'm not aware of any issue - the last time I saw it was the autumn I think and it had worked out fine. My sister has it, and she is quick enough to point out any faults, so I suspect if it had not been satisfactory I would have heard !!

Or longer. I refurbished mine (34 sashes) during lockdown. House was built 1890, the original single glazed windows have been repaired from time to time but still very sound. No doubt the next owner will rip them out and "upgrade" them with uvpc.

I keep my gallon jug of epoxy warmish by storing it in a box I made from an old sheet of celotex . The joints were simply butted and held together with foil tape. My heat source is a 100w radiant light bulb. It stops the epoxy crystallising in the winter months, allowing me to carry on canoe...
