    FTAGH Arundel lathe

I have an Arundel J4 lathe for spares or repair. There is a headstock, tailstock, toolrest, bed bars etc. It is complete but needs a new pulley on the motor. I think that the motor works but it has been a few years since I used it. There is also a chuck adaptor which goes from the slightly...

Hi. Looking back at the thread, I think I had a manual but I am not sure where it is now. I will have a look though.

    Sickle

Strimmer and hedge trimmer seem to be the tools for the job. If budget is the issue, first choice for me would be to ask around your friends, somebody will likely have one and may either come and help you or lend the tools. At a push, hand shears would be better than a sickle. Slow going though.

    Tomatoes

Probably most tempted by this option to be honest.

    Tomatoes

thanks Ian. If relevant, I am using a ring culture system, with a depth of about 6" of soil in a 8" diameter bottomless pot, and then into a 12" deep bed of gravel below. it should be very well/perfectly drained. I was a bit greedy though and probably shoved in an extra plant than I should have...

    Tomatoes

Any tomato experts on here? I have removed this truss tonight, having done a similar one at the weekend. The odd brown patch on the stem, and (literally) the odd yellow leaf which I snipped off. Any ideas?

engine enamel / very high temperature paint

when you say 250c, is that the temp that the pan may get to. I would expect that the gas flame would be hotter than that, but I dont know if brief, isolated heat would cause issues with the paint. if it is suitable for stoves then perhaps not.

    outdoor material

would ply, even exterior ply, be up to the job for a few years?

    outdoor material

when I say I dont want to spend a fortune, I would rather spend what it needs for the correct material, but would rather avoid buying an 8x4 sheet for the job unless I have to.

    outdoor material

I have an old black and decker workmate that lives outside. It is worth saving because it is better than the offerings today, but it needs a new top. Any suggestions for what I could use as a material for the top that will survive sun and rain? I dont care what it looks like and whether it is...

    Weeds etc

it is surprising how quickly it grows. next door to me took out a bramble patch and there are still bits that spring up under the fence on my side when I turn my back.

    Reduction gear for headstock?

I think that the flat bit is causing some of the problem. I am not sure what you mean by side chisel, but if it is a boring bar of sorts then it might work and is probably the way that I would go. I have drilled acrylic for pen tubes- 10mm (ish) holes where surface finish is important. The key...

How many teeth on plunge saw blade

I use the standard 48 tooth and get a good quality cut on ply and mdf. I have never cut melamine though, or veneer faced ply so I cant comment on those.

Katsu router and different cutter sizes

Personally, I would not use the 6mm cutters simply to avoid having both 6mm and 1/4 in the same workshop. One will be too big for the collet, the other will grip to some degree in the wrong collet but not safely.

    Bushes to box off?

how tall do you need it? there are a few that will do what you want, but some are very slow growing, particularly box. they also need a bit of upkeep, which if you haven't got the tools will make the timber seem cheap. you could use Lonicera nitida Hedge Plants which is dense with a small...
