    9” bandsaw - I know…

I’d love a 12 or 14” bandsaw to do all sorts with, but after checking available space in the back of my shed, there isn’t even room for a record power 250. I’m not really looking for anything for resawing, but I do want to make little ornaments etc - things like this It seems I have only a...

    Is this oak?

I’ve taken apart an old bunk bed that was very heavy and looks to be nicely made. I’m planning to keep the wood and use it when I have a suitable project. I am assuming this is oak, but I’d appreciate it if someone could confirm, but also how to identify it.

Sold Dewalt corded trim router (D26204K)

I’m continuing to rationalise my tools after going all out earlier in the year! This router has not had much use and was purchased in January this year. It has both fixed and plunge bases and two parallel fences. In addition I’ve included a guide rail adapter for makita/festool tracks and a...

Workbench pull out extension for router table

I’ve carved out the back of my shed for woodworking and I’m generally happy with it, though I’m sure I’ll continue to tinker. The problem I’m trying to solve now is how to standup up a router table and a good place for the small Festool table saw. My thought is to have arms that could be...

    Festool OF2200 vs 1400

I picked up a Festool OF2200 240v around five months ago and I’m thinking of moving down in size to the OF1400. I do have a small Dewalt 1/4” trim router but wanted something to handle all I could throw at it, so jumped up to the OF2200. It is amazing, but it’s really heavy and feels like quite...

    Shared 3m x 2m shed - any ideas??

I have carved out part of a garden shed so that I can do woodwork in the summer. I’d previously just used saw horses outside, but the rain has been very annoying this year!! Having started using the area, it’s got very messy very quickly, largely down to me being lazy, but also trying to cram...

    Big Green Egg Cedar Table

Well, I’ve left the maintenance of this BBQ table a little too long and one of the planks has cracked. My plan for the whole thing is to sand and treat with worktop oil. For the cracked plank, is it best to use sawdust and glue or wood filler? Crack is 2mm at widest point. Any other thoughts...

    Table saw safety

I’ve just added a table saw to my growing selection of woodworking tools that could eat my fingers and would like opinions on safety either good books, reputable videos and advice here to make sure I use the saw as safely as possible. I’ve purchased this particular table saw ( Festool CSC SYS...

    Vintage low angle jack plane

i have a Veritas crosscut carcass saw after a recommendation on here, that I use for crosscuts of small pieces when I’m not dragging out a track saw etc. I really like it and want to a add a low angle jack plane, both in a shooting board to go with the simple bench hook I built for the saw, but...

Dashboard Hinge / Guid Rail Bracket

I recently ordered the Dashboard Hinge for delivery to the UK. I spent quite a bit of time deciding on the right track to hold the T-Bars (not t-bolts, though they can be ordered. In the US, they specify 15 series TSlot extrusion, but 40 would be fine in the UK. However, the 40 extrusion was a...

    Marples No2200 square restoration questions

I’m still going through some inherited tools and would like some advice on a Marples try square. The handle and face plate look like they will clean/polish up fairly easily, but the blade is completely trashed. Before I start at it are there any pointers on the best way to go about? Also, for...

    Evolution R255TBL Table Saw

I assume the new Evolution jobsite bench saw is not out in the wild yet? It seems that a few YouTubers that have been given them for free have them. It looks fairly similar to the Dewalt 7485, certainly the fence mechanism, plus they seem to have fixed the mitre track size and the plus model...

    Sock blocker

Moving on a little from learning to build cabinets to something not involving just a plunge saw. My wife has some wooden sock blockers that are too large. I wanted to check my thinking on how to trim them to the correct size. I have a correct sized sock blocker so will use that to draw around...
