It's where you screw the T clip that you would have received in one of the small plastic bags included with the gauge. This fits into the T slot that some table saws have. If you saw doesn't then you do not need to use it

It's all Rubbish really. Where your right in saying that Scottish bank notes are not legal tender in England or even Scotland and that they are accepted by many shops all over England, the fact is that strictly speaking although accepted all over Scotland, Bank of England notes are not legal...
+1 Too many people accept the rubbish companies like rutlands give them and "make do". As dm states ask for a replacement or your money back.

+1, and IMHO a 1/2 router with the power that goes with most of them is a must for table work, especially if you want to use the larger bits for raised panel doors and the like.
