    Con?

I would have to disagree, its knocked out about 95% of the cr@p calls I was getting. Still get the very occasional one insisting my computer runs on windows though :)

    Which Router?

I don't think I was dissing Dewalt, I have the 625 and it performs very well. It is just that it feels like a carthorse compared to a filly. Though it is a good deal bigger of course :)

    walnut butt

Mind you, you wouldn't have to get many small bowl or spindle blanks out of it to make it worth £50. To far for me though.

Bob, not sure what bowlsk's are :) but they sure look good. And if Dalboy's pics are of blackthorn I shall have to add that to my 'wanttofind' list. Looks nice.

    wax sealing for turning blanks

As you say, the pro edge is open and is only for sharpening. I was referring to the sparks seeming to go down into the shavings that had accumulated on the floor. I am not sure if they were still hot when they got there ( I kept as close an eye as I could for a while :) )

    wax sealing for turning blanks

I did wonder about that. I have positioned my pro edge right next to the lathe on the basis that if it was quick and easy to get at I would use it more often. That did mean that the sparks were going into the surrounding shavings [-X

Couldn't resist - Laburnum and Plum

Or you could come in with my level of experience and ...... Eeny, meeny, miney mo I think I will give this a go. [-o< ( I'm in a silly mood tonight.) Seriously though, I have been buying a few blanks all labeled so I can use them as reverence points to help me recognise them.

Slurp Slurp Are you labelling all these Bob or relying on basic knowledge to remember which is which ?

    wax sealing for turning blanks

When you buy ready prepared blanks ( and I have done so from more than one place ) they are WAX covered. I'm guessing they do that rather than PVA/paint/whatever for a reason, be it effectiveness, simplicity or a mixture of both.

Are you thinking about getting a Festool MFT 3?

Hi Stu I was thinking of about 6ft x 2 ft ( say 1800 x 600 ) for a bench I am going to build but could be flexible :)

    Anyone for boiled walnuts ?

No hurry to produce anything Taz, apart from an egg before the end of the month :) I intend to just practice with each tool till it does what it should.... but still need a way of knowing when a chisel is sharp enough. Some of the tube vids show the chisel cutting when the wood is being turned...

Can you help me identify this lathe?

I seem to remember reading that the coronet is the for runner of the Record Power CL series? If so, maybe you can get bed bars there.
