    Dewalt customer service???

I had an issue with my table saw recently. All the service centres said they were struggling to get hold of anyone at DeWalt themselves and that a majority of their UK staff were still furloughed. Beyond that I think Brexit is proving to be a headache for them, particularly in terms of spares...

Can you beat this for quality?

Had nothing but pleasure free driving from my Fiat panda. Probably the best car I’ve ever owned! The worst was a Discovery !

    'Jenolite' Rust Prevention

My latest tool in the anti rust battle is to use ACF50. It’s now used widely by motorcyclists to keep motorcycles looking box fresh over the winter - and it really does work incredibly well. It’s a special anti corrosion spray originally developed to be used on the electrics of aircraft and...

    Middle of Lidl starts today

No idea what the fuss is about all this Lidl stuff. Variable quality, prices no longer as smart as they used to be. Stuff like the drills bits often a total waste of time. Really unsure about the obsession.

    Wanted Veritas skew rabbet plane

That rusty lee LN collection on the bay is gonsmacking. How on earth could you allow that to happen if you actually knew anything about your tools? And there are so many of them - it must have been an enormous initial outlay. And then the price that he is asking considering the condition and the...

    Reciprocating Saw Advice

Seems a lot of money for a reciprocating saw imho. They are useful for a limited range of jobs , but unless you’re going to use it every day id just buy a screw fix special for testing timber out the boat.

DeWalt table saw quality going down hill?

Yes it was whilst cutting rabbits/rebates I originally noticed the issue. David Charlesworth has instilled a passion in me for checking things with straight edges!

DeWalt table saw quality going down hill?

My 745 has a noticeable dip in the worktop. I posted about it recently - but it’s now too well used to do anything about.

Chisel sharpening - do we have a beginner guide?

Grit is often not linear and varies completely between manufacturers. Trust the course/medium/fine advice given by the manufacturer more. One 1000 grit stone and another are completely different - the stones rating in microns is generally a better guide, but still very different !

Chisel sharpening - do we have a beginner guide?

Don’t buy Ron Hock’s book. You’ll become obsessed and spend more time sharpening than doing any work. People spend their whole lives sharpening, resharpening, reprofiling, shaving their arms, cutting paper, stropping, polishing, micro bevelling and everything in between - and never get round to...

    Recommended Small Workshop Vacuum/Dust Extractor

I use my screwfix Titan wet and dry. Super cheap, does the job well and seems to be able to handle tonnes of sawdust without getting damaged. Basic... but does the job.
