The tarrifs won`t last. Trump is just doing it to get some negotiations going and to show he is not messing around. An agreement will be sorted out, especially if Poilievre gets in.

Sliding barn door track without joins - where to purchase?

I got one a few years ago from Amazon. Just generic Chinese. It was actually very nice quality in a chrome finish with large wheels. So it is a round bar with shaped wheels top and bottom and it came with adjustable wheels for the floor to keep the door running straight. Still working fine now...

Wood insert nuts, any good recommendations?

These can be a pain, I agree that the ones with a continuous thread are better. But, they are harder to screw in. Last time I used stainless ones and had to go half a mm over on the drill bit to get them just right in birch ply. If you don`t have the right half mm over bits then try wax. Insert...

You can never go back to the mad spaghetti. So much easier to plug them into the psu at the end.

    Mental Health benefit of woodwork

It is a bit of a double edged sword for me. I really do enjoy making things and to work with your hands and mind is basically what humans are all about. However, having to try and make money while doing it adds to the stress it is supposedly alleviating. Still better than working in any of the...

    Gaming PC advice?

While I have a be quiet case and fans etc. which i can`t fault. When I upgraded to a new cpu I got a cheap Thermalright peerless assasin cooler from Amazon, I think it was 25 quid, bloody brilliant. Probably not as quiet as a noctua or be quiet but for 25 quid, its huge and certainly overkill.

    Gaming PC advice?

The ryzen 97950x does not have built in graphics so saying onboard graphics makes no sense. There are similar chips that do have graphics built in. Running 3 sticks of ram is not good they work in pairs. For a motherboard these days you can get some with up to 3 m.2 slots which is nice because...

Far infra-red heating panels and battery storage

Wow, not ideal. I wonder if it was gas or oil powered. I remember loving sitting in the kitchen by the aga at my friends house when I was a kid, it was always cosy in that farmhouse kitchen. Makes the best toast as well.

Far infra-red heating panels and battery storage

As for the solar and battery. I have done quite a bit of looking into this, your 1kw for an hour is 1kwh so you could get 13,5 hours out of it but obviously every time you change the from ac to dc you lose some and nothing is 100% efficient so you would likely only get 12 maybe. I am assuming...

    Worth getting Q-set domino?

If that is the plastic side extensions with the pins ( not sure as I have the df 700 ) then I say yes they are useful. I have used them quite often on longer tabletop glue ups etc. It means you can index without measuring over a longer distance. I do find you have to keep checking they are...

    Sliding Sash Bow Window Repair

Great work, these are a headscratcher, I had to do a bowed 8 over 8 georgian one which needed a pair of new sashes, was a bit tricky to say the least. I remeber the same question wether to do the tenons square or splayed, I forgot what I did now. I will have to see if I can find a picture.

    affordable cabinet material?

You can get pre coated or melamine faced MDF but it still needs edging/ lipping. Also it can be tricky to cut cleanly without chipping out, same with MFC. I agree with Kayen the getting it pre cut can be a good idea. If its for kitchen carcasses then you can`t beat buying them from DIY kitchens...

    Gaming PC advice?

I was not experienced the first time and that was before the very easy to access information we have now. I am not suggesting just buying some random parts and hoping for the best. This is why I mentioned pc part picker as a good start to check if everything will work well together. Also you...

    Gaming PC advice?

I have built and repaired quite a few and never had any smoke occur. To be fair it is like assembling a lego model or an airfix. You only need a couple of screwdrivers. Things will pretty much only fit where they are supposed to go, wires all have pre terminated plugs etc. You can probably find...

    Reglazing Windows

It is the sightline that is most important. If there is room for an 8mm rebate in the bars then you can use 6.5mm sightline heritage units. Anywhere from 11mm to 18mm thick with krypton gas. If you have the sightline then adding the extra depth is pretty easy. I have done this numerous times...

    Routing cutting board handles

Use a smaller cutter with similar profile, this will enable you to run around the cut rather than having to stop at the ends. You will just need a template for a bushing or use a bearing. And/or cut a slot out of the centre with a straight bit smaller than the full width first which will enable...
