    Hi, just new to the forum, in the process of sorting through my various items and came across this 3ft ruler (brass) I have posted on the media wall various photos, just want to know what environment the ruler was used in (no holes drilled in the ruler) it is marked as Raybone Chesterman No1319...

    No drill hole on the full length of the ruler, what environment was the ruler used in?

    1963 The company merged with James Chesterman and Co, toolmakers of Sheffield, and the name was changed to Rabone Chesterman so the ruler was manufactured later than 1963

    Gradation in 1/8th..The British Standards institute published "Metric Standards for engineering." 1965 After that most rulers, were graduated in Imperial and Metric measures

On 24th May 1965 the Government announced that the UK would be adopting metric units in place of imperial ones and in March the following year The British Standards institute published "Metric Standards for engineering"
