    Wiping varnish for kitchen tops?

My experience with it has not been good. I did our coffee table with it and it didn't have much depth of colour and has marked far worse than the overly thick Liberon finishing oil on our worktops. It does look like a thin varnish but the level of protection has far exceeded the Osmo.

    Wiping varnish for kitchen tops?

Thanks. Probably not for me then. I know it's not fashionable but I quite like a slightly glossy finish. My experience with Osmo Poly X was it left a very matt finish. Great for some jobs but not what I am wanting on our kitchen tops.

How different is this from the poly X?

    Wiping varnish for kitchen tops?

Our American walnut wortops are looking tired and need some love. Originally I used Liberon finishing oil but instead of wiping off all the excess left a surface cover. It looked like it was lightly varnished and and has been fantastically hard waring considering the abuse we give it. Now I have...

    Kity 612 Bandsaw help needed.

Think it was the 613. Not especially small wheels but the supplier normally made blades for big industrial machines hence the overly heavy gauge steel blades.

    Kity 612 Bandsaw help needed.

I had snapping blades early on with my Kity. I changed blades supplier to one who did thinner blades and the problems stopped. They were fatiguing due to the thick steel on the tight radius.

    Anyone had a gastroscopy?

Just had the throat spray. No problem with the gag reflex. All in all much less bad than I was prepared for. I just did as the nurses said and all was over in a flash.

Work trousers - not baggy ones! Any suggestions?

I just wear Craghopper Classic walking trousers for work and walking. Plenty of pockets and not very baggy. Think they do a stretch version as well for a closer fit.

What to pay for green wood?

In which case I would suggest around £60 per tonne. Roadside timber to be used for firewood is around £50 a tonne plus I presume they are delivering? If it's super perfect wood especially cut for you them maybe a bit more. Pay them enough that they will be keen to supply you again otherwise it's...

    Milling oak logs

Dont know the 660 that well but I suspect you may need and auxiliary oiler with a 42" bar on it. Very much doubt if the saws oiler can deliver enough oil for that long a chain. The chain is probably getting too hot and expanding making it then jump off. Not milled big wood myself just...

    ...cutting Polycarbonate Corrugated Roofing Sheet

Yes but I was thinking about the pool that would form in the corrugation behind the flue. Might not be an issue I guess.

    ...cutting Polycarbonate Corrugated Roofing Sheet

Angle grinder with thin metal cutting disc works well cutting that stuff but no idea how you will seal it if it needs to we watertight.

What is this engineered wood called?

The Italians make or used to make some great laminated panels. When building our house I was eyeing up a hardwood panel of 44mm thickness for stair treads. Think Lathams had it in their catalogue at the time. Sadly by the time I was ready to build the stairs the product was no longer available...

    Michelin CrossClimate + tyres

I just go with whatever the garage recommends for good value. Not the cheapest or most expensive. First set we had on a Peugeot 306 were Kleber. Just been out to have a look on the current Volvo V40 and it's got Genaral on the front and Kumho on the rears. Sorry dont know the model for any of...

    Michelin CrossClimate + tyres

Winter tyres are far better in the wet as well. We use them all year round. Better in snow, ice and the wet and just a slight compromise with noise and ware in the dry. Admittedly we do very few long journeys and it's mainly short trip on the soggy Devon lanes.
