    Surprising good ply from B&Q

I'm guilty of often only piping up when I've bought something thats fallen short of expectation but today it's the other way around. We have just started a DIY house renovation and we happened to pop into B&Q. I was looking for birch ply which they didn't have but I came across some not bad...

Advice drilling 32mm holes in 80mm joists

I recently had to thread some 15mm plastic pipe through 50mm joists at 400 centres. Screwfix had their Erbauer version of the Beaver bit available that day so thats what I got. It did the job and being able to put it in the impact driver was a bonus as thats the shortest drill/driver I own

They do look like they fit the bill. Are you pleased with the quality of the lenses?

    2+ safety reading glasses wanted

Any recommends for the above? I can find lots of bifocal ones but none with the whole lens magnified. I end up using my regular (cheap) reading glasses for work but would really like something a bit tougher. Thanks

    Foil Insulation for attic

We insulated our whole place with mutifoil (Actis super 9) Great stuff when done right even though there was some controversy in the trade about it's effectiveness some years back. Taping all joins sealing edges is a must IMO otherwise cold air can just bypass the insulation. I did use...

    Spindle tooling advice

If I was starting from scratch I recon that's an excellent starting point. Not used a multi function head but cant see any reason why it wont do what it claims. I picked up some large tenoning heads for my Felder in one of their sales but still find the depth limiting so being able to pass wood...

Any new panel products for making kitchen cupboards?

It sounds like there is a big margin on birch ply so I had better lean on our local supplier to see what they can do

Any new panel products for making kitchen cupboards?

Do tell! Worth a long trip for a kitchens worth of ply or a hefty delivery for that sort of saving

Slow Speed Bench Grinders in the UK

My gut feeling is it was be easier to overheat the cutting edge with it rotating the other way but I have no evidence for this.

Any new panel products for making kitchen cupboards?

Things that didn't get dried properly being put away wet. Only ourselves to blame but it happens and will happen again haha

Any new panel products for making kitchen cupboards?

I take it from the silence that birch ply is still the way to go. Any thoughts on a tough clear finish for inside the cabinets? Last time around I used a water based acrylic varnish but this has not been as tough as I hoped. Not rubbish but plenty of marks where its got wet

Any new panel products for making kitchen cupboards?

I'm at the planning stage of building a new kitchen for a farmhouse. The last kitchen I did I used birch ply for the cabinets but it was £50 a sheet then and now costs £150! Just wondering if there is any other sheet materials I should be considering? I see this as a fit and forget kitchen so...

Lots of good suggestion so thanks to you all. Not come across these button fixings before and might well be able to re-jig the plan to use them

Wanting magnets to hold on trims

Hi all. I'm doing some building work and wanting a discreet way of fixing some wooden trims. First job is boxing in a hot tank in a nice-ish utility room. The plan is building the box with painted ply and then covering the corners and fixings with a hardwood wooden trim. We may need access so...

    Spindle moulder bed/fence/guides.

I've tapped some extra holes into my Felder where I wanted some extra fixing points. Obviously check where you are going through but I was surprised how easy a job it was
