Kity 513/613 owners or anyone with flat bandsaw wheels! >

This is my understanding of why you should run with the teeth off the front on the Kity As the wheel has no camber when you run the blade fully on the wheel the set of the teeth will be pressing into the tyre on the wheel. Two potential problems from this. One the set might get negated from...

Kity 513/613 owners or anyone with flat bandsaw wheels! >

As above would be my guess. There is a means to adjust the lower wheel on the Kity and yes the instruction for mine said to run with the teeth just off the front and it always worked but didn't often run such small blades.

Material to aid smooth movement of INCRA LS POSITIONER?

Yes I have used Slick from Axminster but not sure if they still sell it. Think it's just thin HDPE. Nylon 66 would probably work as well

    Holly trunk drying out process

Only dried holly once. It was a 12" tree on the farm. I cut a few planks and put them by the dehumidifier. They cracked to bu@@ery but had enough to make half of a lovely chessboard.

Just saw this old article and it seems fitting to share today when we are being encouraged to buy lots more pointless tosh. https://www.monbiot.com/2012/12/10/the- ... DIAf89J3g0

    Another "Wood ID" Question Folks

It appears to have slight medullary rays. Not many woods have this but I would go for beech

Table top CD player, boom box recommendations

If you are after fairly good sound I cant see any "boombox" being up to job. How about a mini hifi and just make a cradle to carry it about as one? Something like this https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/mini ... phite.html

    Holly trunk drying out process

If you want it to keep the lovely creamy white colour holly normally is you need to dry it quite quickly or it develops's a greenish hue. Splits are pretty much inevitable with quick drying IME

    Tools needed for model making?

Thanks Ewan. He is still capable of sitting in a boat just doesn't feel up to being in charge. Amazingly he sold his boat and my cousin bought it so he will still get a chance to sail in the boat he built. Will bare in mind the links above though.

    Identify timber

They may be treated or they my just be well weathered. Looking at the piece on the floor the there is a surprising amount of the redness showing for a treated wood. You would soon know if planed a bit as the treatment would penetrate a bit. Wouldn't bet my life on it but I would say it's douglas...

    Tools needed for model making?

A bit of background. My mum recently died and dad is completely lost. He loves sailing and built his own sailing boat but with age he gave up sailing this last year. In his youth he used to make model boats and I am encouraging him to build a 1/25 replica of the sailing boat he built which he...

Kitchen Cabinets - are they all created equal?

I built my own for two major reasons. 1. If you dont have to run large waste pipes behind units a large amount of space is wasted with regular units. 2. If you do get leaks at some stage in the future MFC is hopeless and swells with a sniff of water. Not to mention the normally appalling...

    sharpening kitchen knives

Got a workshop with water stones, grinders etc etc but just use a diamond steel like this for the kitchen knives https://www.amazon.co.uk/SMTENG-sharpen ... DV6YRJGT3C On old fashioned steel did little more than a light hone but one of these seems to be aggressive enough to never need to...

    Gluing a bolt to aluminium?

Yes it can be done for sure. West system and the right fillers will work but not a cheap solution if you have to buy it all from scratch. The key to bonding to Aly or steel is not just to abrade it dry but to do so again when the epoxy has been applied to avoid problems with oxidation. For what...

    Ash for outdoors?

It is rated as poor but then it was used on Morris travellers for all the exposed coach work. I guess if its well protected it will be fine like any wood but left untreated will have a shortish life.
