    Microsoft Windows 10 Pop Up

Lack of windows media player, windows media player or any means of playing dvds out the box means I reverted straight back to windows 7!

    Digital Magazines

I subscribe to the digital edition of PW and it gets sent straight from PW as a pdf. I also subscribe to F&C and have to use pocketmags for that. It probably takes about 2 mins to download but once on my tablet I have no trouble whizzing from page to page. Make sure the pocketmags app is up to...

    Tuff saws rule.

I like the blades but I have an awful habit of snapping the thinner ones when doing shaped work. Ian from Tuff Saws can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong #-o

Running power to my shed, but trying to avoid a big trench

I am just about to finally put some proper power to my shed - using my extension cable starting the saw or dust extractor puts the lights out for a few seconds and it just really isn't safe! One comment is that SWA cannot be pinned to a fence or a hedge - it needs to be a "permanent structure"...

    2. Steve's Workshop- The Commissioning and Production

Well Frank Howarth has had about 19 million hits over the last two years (I assume his workshop build is the first serious stuff he put out). Given the figures above that will have probably earned him the equivalent of £30,000 (using the mean of the two values above). Not a huge amount but not...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

That's a big looking wood store. Are you planning on going off-grid! I would also be tempted to partition off the middle two sections to allow you to have nicely contained sections and a good rotation of fresh and dried logs.

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

I enjoy hand tools and will always give it a go but I must admit that after hand chopping all the deep mortices in 2 large garden gates I promptly went out and bought a hollow chisel morticer for my next projects. I reckon it will cut the time in half for a project like that

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Would a hand saw and a chisel not have saved you a lot of fretting about HSE  #-o I'll get my coat! H.

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

This article is one of the best I have read on making winding sticks and you are posting it free on ukworkshop - thank you. (Pssst. what happened to your business plan?!) H.

    Sharpening - I'm sorry!

Tried waterstones for 3 or 4 years and they were good but then I bought a set of new chisels and looked at the hollow in the waterstones and said "no thank you" I then bought the eze lap diamond plates that Paul Sellers recommended. Now... they don't give as nice a finish on my chisels but...

How to make money from woodworking?

With a friend my wife and set up a pop-up Christmas shop/craft fair/tea reoom last year. We spent months making stock (wooden christmas decorations, reindeer, hot water bottle covers etc) and sold about 70%. We more than broke even on that part of the affair but if you count up the hours we did...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Looking again at the position of your baffle. Shouldn't it be moved around by 120 degrees so the incoming air hits the baffle for a bit longer?

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Steve, from what I have read you should play about with a tube reaching down from the clean air outlet towards the baffle. It seems there should only be a gap of about half the diameter of the tube between the tube and baffle. I assume this description is clear as mud so you might want to look...

Do you periodically clean your 3M respirator? You should!

Let me get this right. We wear masks to save us from the airborne sawdust. Then the masks incubates and exposes us to the mould spores. Do we need a mask for our mask #-o Or do we just go in and watch the telly :| I only use my mask for mdf and oak. Both of which I have been cutting...

    Professional forum?

Can someone tell me what's wrong with WoodworkUK? (Am I allowed to say that here?! 8-[) Although not posted on as often as here there are obviously a lot of trade "professionals" who give a lot of their time and advice to "amateurs" and other "professionals" alike. I, for one, subscribe when...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

So it's a proper batchelor pad then - the workshop's bigger than the house. The playroom is bigger than the living room  \:D/ I'm soooo jealous

So, at approx 60 sqm I'm pretty sure that is bigger than the footprint my first house!
