    Opinions on Axminster pillar drill anyone?

    I have the radial drill. It gets rare use but It's a tool I can't do without when I need it. My only quibble is that it is a morse taper chuck so you can't use it with a mortice attachment.

    I would be very careful if I were you, as any money you make will be stopped from your benefits. If you decide to do it illegally, then the fines can be very steep and you may go to jail

    We (Ferrers Household re-enactment group) Have used some Glasgow nails and found them too brittle for clenching over. We found a solution, our own blacksmith makes them as and when required!

    got mine in a sale at Maplins. Get one with a separate transformer not mains power as the cord is thinner and therefore lighter

    if your local woodyard is anything like mine they will cut very approximately, so order longer than you need, also they haven't worked out how to gut things square so again more will be better

    I was a scout leader too and I think we would all agree the same. Sharp tools are way safer for the reason DiscoStu mentioned.

    I belong to a Medieval re-enactment group who specialize in the atrizan crafts of the period. Our carpenter makes authentic oak boxes, cost wise they start mid three figures. He is often told ' I can buy a box from Homebase for £25' His reply is go and buy it then, I can't get the wood for that.

    The trouble with online shopping, not just woodwork stuff, is that you only see the product when it arrives,. At least with Axminsters shop presence you can get 'hands on' with it. You of course then go elsewhere where it's cheaper. BTW I work in the car industry supplying the major...
