Thanks for those valuable tips on the set up, I'll get a sharpening stone for it soon. I was juggling a bit with the auger/ chisel gap but got a mortice cut! Now to work out where it's going to live in my rather overcrowded workshop.
Hi All. I have just picked up a Charnwood W308 machine. I've never used a morticer before. Any tips? It came with a drill chuck and 7 chisels. It was really cheap so I can't complain if it's a pile of poo! I am going to have a go at making a set of gates, My biggest project so far.
So two days, You are already at £300. Although you said you got the wood for free, you still have to factor in the cost of it. What if someone else likes the same thing and you have no wood? adding it all up You need to charge £450 at least. Weather you will get that, is a matter for you and...
Weirdly I think the horrible smell is what the woodworkers are after? I'm not bothered either way, I'm at the other end of the show casting Pewter, on the 'metal side' with the blacksmith.
Got me thinking this has, In our medieval group, our carpenters are thinking of introducing hide glue on the show, They want to get the smell apparently! The stuff would only be melted at weekends, so I think you are saying, make a fresh batch each weekend.
Thank you for the info. I did try it without gluing the cab (almost) together. It moved when I tried to drill it. Assembling in the way you have explained makes a lot of sense, The video explained a lot about correct sequence of assembly. Thank you
I'm Making the same trucks as Delboy ( see the last thing you made thread) The standard size is the red truck. I made twice as big (green truck) and a smaller, natural finish one. I'm making an even smaller one. The smaller I go, If it's 'out' , then it's really noticeable. I'm sticking to the...
The holes I have problems with are the ones for the roof supports. I always seem to drill off square, too far back, too far forwards. Any tips? I have a radial pillar drill so it should be straightforward, But, It isn't!
Managed to Hopefully resize the image. They are a free plan. Still making them with whatever size wheels I have in stock. I can't seem to rotate the picture, but It gives you an Idea.
Looking really nice. Much tighter than I could manage ( being impatient doesn't help) When I can resize a picture, I'll post my efforts on 'things you have made'
+1 for Metabo, I have it's little brother the 216. Mine was accurate out of the box. It has a repeatable trenching facility. The Bosch I looked at, You had to reset the depth every time, And that was 600 notes!
I don't know if you do this, But I usually tape the chassis parts together and drill the axle holes so they are the same on both parts. What wood is it?
