That's what I thought as well. Damned job is a 5 minute one that has lasted a week so far. It would be easier to throw it away TBH. I could fix it easily but she is in London and I'm in the Midlands! Perils of being a nice guy I suppose
I have two Items from Axminster. A bench grinder with a wide white wheel on it, and my radial Pillar drill. Both ex display. I did negotiate money off them though.
I think you are overestimating the 'next generation' from my experience, It's a live fast, buy stuff, throw away, die young, sod the planet type of attitude
Mate of mine was asked by an architect ' What is the size of (what ever it was)?' Pete said 6 feet 7 and a quarter (or some odd size) architect says, 'what's that in metric?' Pete replies, 'The same' and walks off!
Don't shoot me. I'm also in the market for one. What one does Will Kirk use in 'the repair shop' Seen him use it loads of times, but I can't quite see the make. It's yellow, but not dewalt
Boring fact. That scene was done by cutting the table with an angle grinder, filling the gap with lead and grinding it flat. Camera rolled, guy underneath aimed a blow torch at it. Superimpose the light on in after. ( told you it was boring!)
My Aldi band saw is still going nearly 4 years after I got it. OK, I don't use it much. I do keep breaking blades, but I think that is more user error rather than the machine itself. I have just put an Axminster blade on it. and went through 2'' of Black walnut easily enough.
You have to thank Whitworth for standardization. When he invented a screw cutting lathe. Also to some extent Lucas electrical as well. Remember the 60's and 70's cars with 7'' round headlights, That was Lucas's doing.
