Help with new NVR switch, please.

nothing wrong with having the contactor, it means the switchs can be 1a rated.

Help with new NVR switch, please.

You'll be glad to here that it's most likely the NC switch that's failed. which is nice. :) as you can no dowt see from your second picture, you've got 2 separate switches mounted in a block. if you unscrew that nasty dust cover you may find you can remove them separately. lets start there...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

so the switch wasn't an NVR. :) (sorry, uncalled for). what you had was a pair NO/NC switches in a block. that little box of tricks is acting as the NVR, it's a magnetic relay, you put power across pin 8 and 9 (a1-a2) which activates the coil and pulls the contactor to live, feeding the...

Is this the beginning of senility?

far to many times have I been caught ransacking the workshop looking for an Allan key I was just using, only to have it pointed out that it's between my teeth. more than once has this occurred in a shared workshop, including once by a customer who's bike I was about to work on.

    Need a woodworkin' man!

Peter Millard did a video recently where he made an ikea step stool. Only way he could conoete was tk use a 15 quid for 3 bits of hardwood challange and exclude his time. Economy of scale is a bugger.

    Reducing the size of dowels

Yes I've tried it. I took 50ish 60cm long 16mm birch dowels from an ikea cot amd turned them in to 14mm dowels and 10mm dowels. The 14mm were used to stabilise a laminate bench and the 10s were used to fill pocket hole holes in a few window frames and picture frames i knocked up for the garage...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

Ni. The piggy backed lead is from the switches on the door to pull the nvr to 0 potential and make it activate. Its how a seperate emergency stop is linked in to the switch. Its what a1 terminal is for on this switch. I really thing its time to stop asking advice on here and get a sparky to look...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

That suggests it is only switching the live. White isnt a normally lead wire so thats internal and id agree with lurker that there is a terminal block somewhere with the earthing, neutral and live contacts. Red and black are confusing colours but id say the red is the line to all the door...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

he said it probably wasn't an NVR on the machine previously, if it was it would have been something like a KJD6 or 12 and it sounds like it only switched the live. couldn't give me a wiring diagram as he hasn't touch anything like that in a while and he'd check what the wires were first. red...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

got a battery and an LED handy? you can knock up a quick test lamp for what you are doing here. lets start with wire colours shall we. what colours are in the plug? Lurker, that was my guess but as it could mean a bit of a bang I wasn't willing to guess.

Help with new NVR switch, please.

we can't assume anything. but thanks for the answers. you've only got 3 wires (or is that wire that looks like a piggy back of wire 13 a separate wire?) so you've got 2 outs (black and white most likely) and 1 live input but no neutral. you need to go digging with a multimeter and find out...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

kaboom is a good possibility. give it a go, but make sure your filming first. :) (or not) can you see if there's a seperate relay inside the machine? is it normal 240 supply or 3 phase? is that all the wires? how old is the machine? black and red hasn't been used for supply for a rather long...

    Reducing the size of dowels

I like mathias wandels way of doing dowels (I'm sure he wasn't the first but it's were I saw it) that involves drilling a hole in a block of wood, cutting away a relieve and mounting a chisel then spinning the dowel through with a drill driver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUmlMtpAj9o...

Help with new NVR switch, please.

sorry Mike, but without knowing where the wires go to it's pretty close to impossible to say. I can tell you that pin 13 and 23 are N and L in and pin 14 and 24 are Motor N and L. if it's got switches on the doors or an emergency stop that routes from live to A1 (which has a coil inside to...

    100v soldering iron

surprises me too if I'm honest. I guess I run it of a lower power supply so maybe that makes a big difference as you already alluded too), I ran the ts100 (before I sold it to a friend) at 12v which rated it as a 17w iron, at 19v it was around the 40w marker so yep, massive difference. now...
