How much for a decent mountain/road bike.

dang nabit. I don't have a cat to kick. was thinking about buying myself one at that price. for 400 quid the 16" is still a bargain and at 5'6" is pretty close to correct size for you. but for the same money you can upgrade to the next level and get the rd600 with 2x10 deore and better...

yer what ever Pete. :P careful now, wouldn't want light banter to be misconstrued as another excuse for a tirade of male cow excrement to be dumped on us. Chris, go have a look at Pete's flickr stream, it's got some fantastic shots, can't see a 300mm in there though. :) Pete, I'm fine with...

from what use I've had of his kit they are whisper quiet. they have manual mode and the controls are fairly well laid out. because you aren't raising it to your eye they are easy to use than on something like a "bridge" camera where you can't look at the same time as view. they do a 300mm lens...

in the UK, 200mm is more than enough, you aren't shooting lions on the Serengeti, so use field craft instead. we had a talk about it at the photography club a few years back. people think that because a pro uses a 600mm odd lens they must do it to, but they forget that a pro doesn't want to sit...

sony a5100 mirrorless with a 55-210 lens. I have a mid range DSLR (60d) that the sony would show up on a regular basis. they got the drop on canon and nikon when they released their mirrorless range and it's been a battle in the photography world ever since with sony regularly winning out...

Buy the riddick. Turn the balance into a labour of love. Treat the riddick well and it will keep you going till your kids are done with bikes and want to play with cars instead. A few upgrades as you go and as things wear out will see it ride better than you for a long time to come. Theres a...

How much for a decent mountain/road bike.

should add that this is stuff I can see that would need to be changed to make it nicer to ride and safe. when you did in further you may find the bearings are fubar, hard to tell from the outside. headset should be servicible with a good clean an regrease, but it maybe a bit crunchy (not...

How much for a decent mountain/road bike.

Right. so this is bias towards a nice ish ride at the lowest price without pushing you towards parts I'd say are dangerous. I've excluded changing the forks as those z4 marzocchi's were an ok if heavy fork and pretty bombproof, they certainly aren't modern quality and even something cheap like...

How much for a decent mountain/road bike.

Should probably add that a cheap bike now will be better than a fixed up what you have and most likely lighter. Just looked at parkers and this is a pretty good price for the spec.notamazing but good. https://www.parkersofbolton.co.uk/colle ... ntain-bike

Now you're in my territory. Id love todrop 9k on a pinerello dogma, butihave a family that comes first. I reckon you could have that bike serviceable for sub 100 quid. Ill do you a parts list tomorrow when im not typing on my phone. Eastern bits have come a long way. Otherwise, if you want...

    A little thread of calm?

What's wrong with making your own sausages? I do it every few months, or i did anyway, cant get the skins at the moment. Our greens arent doing so well? We got some pees going ok but the toms are a bit stunted. Reckon im going to turn some of the old windows in to cold frames for next year.

    A little thread of calm?

I've found that the best way to deal with greenish spuds is to cut them in to careful lengths of approximately 10mm square across the length of the spud, soak them in salt water for 20-30 minutes then carefully lower them in to ~160c temp hot oil or fat of some description for 6-8 minutes...

    Knife blade blanks

I shall read your post properly next time. :) got an old table saw/circular saw blade laying around? grab your grinder and crack on, you can get 2 decent full tang bowie style blades (because a real bowie isn't a full tang and it will be a bit thinner at the spine) and 5 or 6 smaller blades...
