this is a hand knurling tool. but whilst I was looking for this, I found this too. over on practical machinest. "Rope Knurling"- How were the knurling wheels made ? So stand a little bit corrected, there are hand held knurling tools for use in soft materials on a lathe. not that this is...

    Another mystery tool

I think this is a case of almost identical tools working in different mediums. I agree that it is a tool for a book binder is a correct answer, but also that it would be used by leather workers for an almost identical purpose and possibly in ornate pottery, again, for a very similar purpose.

    Another mystery tool

EDIT: post clashed with Rorschach the head appears to be a rope knurl but I have never seen one with a handle, they have always been machine mounted. a hand knurl, as used by jewelers and goldsmiths is a U shaped clamp type thing to support the ring. the amount of force required to knurl...

Home Made Compressor, Would you buy it

Also, its a briggs amd stratton 3hp if you tried really hard and gave it a push it might pull the skin of your roce pudding. I reckon you could tune the belt slip so it cant dewadhead the pump.

Home Made Compressor, Would you buy it

Its a propane cylinder. Last i checked they are rated to 28bar and tested to double that. The pump is reciprocal and most likely capable of 10 bar max. A catastrophic failure of the tank is going to be somewhat unlikely. If it does fail it will fail at the threads on the pipework first but thats...

we used to do the same with a reed switch. put the magnet in the right place and the car starts. no evidence of it from the outside and completely hidden, impossible to get to in order to disable it.

Chris to the rescue. :) I'm to lazy to type in full (phone, make to many typos) but someone like Chris will give a full and much, MUCH better answer. I haven't scrapped a bridge before, but it's a really good approach and I'm not sure why I haven't, I've always placed it on a bit of sandpaper...

    Magnet kitchens wall brackets.

bury a 100mm wide strip in line with the top of the cabinet run. it will give you some run out if it all goes wonky. the actual measurment is more like 40mm from memory so you'll have some wiggle room either way.

Its 50 years old,its done very well, give it a break. 😁 A light sand of the bridge and a quick scrape of the soundboard. Clamp through the sound hole. Id supsect PVA but hide glue was used by some makers still around that time.

Depends on the wall thickness but eclipse 18 tpi or 24tpi if its thin wall would be fine.

Series 2, land rover, soft top

I looked in to a EV conversion for the mk1 golf, I stopped looking when I reach 10k and no guarantee it would even be doable. it has been done. twice apparently, which leaves me somewhat nervous of doing it. even better, I'd still have to pay RFL on it. pipe dreams, who knows, one day. I reckon...
