    Euro air connectors

stainless, great stuff isn't it. you've answered your issues in your second post. Oil. depends what you are using but: the problem won't be with the metal. there is a rubber O-ring on the female connector, it's normally epdm rubber. it's prone to expansion when it soaks up oil (strangely it...

    Which pneumatic pop rivet gun?

I have the Clarke one. rarely used but when I need to rivet 300 times in a row it's perfect. it replaced a drill driven unit that worked great but was slow.

    Sharpening....

Metal work tools will need a grinder and a slip stone. be like your late uncle, embrace the skills. :) wood working tools will need a grinder for shaping and a decent stone. yes you could spend a lot of money on a tomak etc. or you could learn how to do it and get along just fine free hand...

    Land rover

horses aren't allowed on the autobahn. :) I got a run round an off road course in one of these. the noise was comparable to being hit repeatedly over the head with an anvil. Same guy invited me for a spin round the place in a new defender a few weeks ago, not taken him up on it yet but he is...

    Land rover

with all vehicles of this ilk i.e. old, you should see them as more of an adventure than a car. I love my classic VW. I enjoy my mothers classic MG. I love when they decide where we are stopping for lunch.

    rust-able bracketry

Hit them with a flap wheel then drop them in brine. You can speed it up with a bit of electrolysis using a small battery.

    Land rover

Theres a lot of negative here, but I'd still say go for it. the attraction to me for an old one was always that I could drive it anywhere, hop out and trapes around then hope back in without a care for the interior. get home, open the doors and wash it all at once with the hose. I also loved...

    Land rover

Assuming you are good with the hot metal glue gun and dont mind the smell of 15w40 or gearbox oil they can be a jolly good way to tip money in to a deep hole. If you want an even bigger money pit then do as above and pick up a land cruiser. Fewer issues but when you want a part its more like...

    Castor wheel failure

I use skate board wheels. 😁 the problem for me is rarely the wheel bearing and often the slew bearing. If i can get away with fix wheels i use a u shaped bracked and a skate board eherl. If it needs to spin ill iften just put to slip washers above it.

Cutting melamine to shape without chips

the best way is as distinterior suggests. make sure the cutter is sharp as a sharp thing. I'll often still apply masking tape as I found it helped as the blade got slightly dull but it isn't needed.

    Air compressor spray gun

A G&T, preferably in a tall tumbler with ice. :) I wouldn't paint it, I'd use something like boil linseed or some other form of penetrating oil such as tung or danish.

(more) improvements to the mini lathe

not an error, a design feature. intended for "bumping" a work piece square to the to cross slide. :)

Another sharpening jig and other odd tools

Are theu thatchers shears? Maybe not the one in the middle. Was more thinking the 90 degree to the left.

    Apprenticeships

Harder to get doesn't really cover it. I was of age when they basically removed 80% of the funding for the scheme, there were very limited places that year. I was informed by guidance councilor knobis maximus that I'd be eligible for 3 places and be up against something like 1500-3000...

KNO and sugar. Smoke making at its finiest and the quickest way to clear a year 10 disco.

    Dangers of Wire wool

nar, they have short circuit protection. :( I've never taught it as such (because I don't teach survival skills), but Ive seen it used it to prove a point fairly often. Normally goes along the lines of: You can pretty much start a fire with anything, if you can figure out how. Present table...

    Dangers of Wire wool

Only works with wild wire wool though. The farm bred stuff isnt lean enough.

Drilling a straight 20mm hole through 250mm oak gate post.

Washer trick. Put a washer over the shank of the drill, if you are level as you drill it will stay still. Angled up it will slide backward, angled down it will slide forwards. Only video i can find.

    Air compressor spray gun

You will have to thin to suit. Easy to do but you need a viscosity cup to test it and a filter to pour it through. Will say what the solvent for thinning is on the tin. A lot of them are water thesr days.
