    Bike pump

the clip on is going to have the same issue Craig, not enough room to lift the lever. if it was really tight I'd have suggested these - 90 degree adapters

    Talktalk

15 years ago talktalk was based in warrington (then talktalk carphone whore house), as was Zen's technical support centre. 15 years ago, all of zens technical support team (bar I think 1) upped and went to work at talktalk with a sizeable pay increase. 15 years later, most are still there, but...

    Bike pump

motor vehicles us Schrader from the factory. it's in the homologation regs. there are after market options, they all have an adapter to Schrader. issues already sorted I see, so nothing to add other than I had the same issue with a pram, really annoying. :) edit: actually, something to add...

Drill press chuck and spindle falls out

Put it in the freezer over night. The chuck that is. Straight out the freezer and in to the machine. Then leave it. It will expand as it cools. Should be rock solid from then on. Might not get it back out though if it works correectly.

Tool for awkward nut (not me)

Take the nut off. Drill a 5mm hole on each face. Use a length of mm round to tighten and loosen the nut.

    Sandpaper distressed wood finish

I'd be looking towards prop makers and the like if I wanted to know how to distress and age something. no one makes something expensive look knackered like a prop maker, excluding perhaps a 4 year old child that is. :) Anyways, can anyone tell me, how to make a pallet out of an old cabinet, I...

    Can I re-join split shelves

That isn't really a split it's a jointed board that has separated at the glue join because the front edge (left side of the picture) has expanded and contracted over the years due to humidity. search for the how to edge joint thread on here. you will need a hand plane to make the faces flat...

Recommended fixing suppliers: Nuts and bolts.

Material? head? bolt or machine screw? I've used screwfix a plenty for bags of stuff that doesn't need to be high spec. or simplybearings do a good range. once or twice ive used fixingsmegastore, but find they can be hit and miss.

Strange design of park bench- any ideas?

Not much point grabbing the hand hold in rough weather when it isn't attached to the deck though. lack of holes in the feet would make it somewhat complicated to hold down. I really don't think it's a deck seat, I've been on the swan, it had very simplistic benches without the roll top and...

    Dust extraction and track-saws

I have the same saw. dust collection is acceptable but certainly not outstanding. mine is run straight from the vacuum and it collects 80-90% of the dust. not good enough for to use in the lounge but acceptable for the workshop, the stuff that gets left is larger than dust really. as to the...

    Router 1/4 inch shank bits

are you using a template or free hand? freehand then axminster, wealdon heck even screwfix do 45 degree vee bits. if your using a template then it depends on if it's designed for use with a bush in the router base or a bearing follower. I've not seen a vee grooved pattern bit in the UK.

Get out of furniture and into wallpaper -

tenners getting a bit close to the cost of the wallpaper. how much if we use pennies and contact adhesive (which must be higher class than the beer cans we used at uni).

"Off the shelf" vs DIY workbenches

I think the biggest issue with anyone starting out now is the access to information. 10 years ago (ok 20) unless you bought a magazine or 2 and did a bit of digging you'd be pressed to find out about the latest innovations in bench design, the desire for hardwood and how important it is/isn't...

Get out of furniture and into wallpaper -

at 1600 notes I'd want it to be hand drawn by 80 year old virgins who have spent their entire existing living in a secluded valley on a small island off the coast of Pitcairn, doing nothing but master the gentle curves and swooping lines required to produce only the finest of masterpieces. I'd...
