Post a photo of the last thing you made

I decided I needed a tool cabinet so I have more space on my bench and in the workshop generally. I need to make holders for various tools and fettle the doors a bit as they don't line up very well at the moment. (Click on the photos for better quality.)

    I'm just dumb.....

Another way of resizing a batch of photos on a Mac is to select them in photos (you can select more than one by holding down the command key as you click on them) and to then select “export” from the menus (file menu I think). You will need to choose where to save them (eg desktop, or you have...

What do folk think about this table ?

I don’t particularly like the design (although I can see it wild great in the right kitchen/dining room), but I don’t think that price is at all outrageous. The main things I’ve learned since I started woodworking as a hobby Is how much materials cost and, in particular, how much time it takes...

The Veritas Large Router Plane - an idiosyncracy

I think Matt Estlea did a YouTube "tool duel" on the veritas and lie-nielsen router planes and pointed this out as a bit of a flaw in the veritas, although the veritas had other features which were better than the lie-nielsen.

Bosch POF 1400 ACE POWER NOT STAYING ON

My router table has a NVR plug socket - i.e. plug the router into the NVR switch and the lead from the NVR switch into the wall socket. The router can be switched on and then the control comes from the NVR switch. As Bod, says, you could do that and cable tie the trigger so that the router is...

    Build dinghy outside?

Love it! I've got a very similar tent which my wife and I refer to as our first home. She now hates the thing because it's a bit of mission to erect but I've got a soft spot for it. It should be great for an outside workshop.

Thanks. I'm really pleased with it. There are a few mistakes, some hidden better than others, but it's more than good enough for me. I actually just painted on top of the oil (two coats of oil). I did a sample and the paint seems to stick well. I decided not to bother oiling over it. We'll...

A box for a god son of mine (I envisaged it as a tool box, but he can put whatever he likes in it). It's made from oak with some American black walnut "accents" (the handles and the pegs in the bread board ends). It's finished in Osmo Polyx satin.

    Near miss

Crumbs! Probably the last thing from your mind, but can you use any of the wood. I have a real hankering for making something from a local tree, especially one that one has a fondness for. The previous owner of our house had a near miss with a very large beech tree. A neighbour called him at...

    Demi lune table

Thanks Hornbeam. That beading was definitely a good finishing touch. I like lighter natural oak as well, but I think for our house (a listed Georgian/Victorian mash up), and taking into account other furniture we have, the stained and polished look works is right. I also really enjoyed...

    Axminster AT254LTS OR AT254TS

Overall I've been pleased with it, but I'm not really a big machinery connoisseur. Mechanically it has been fine. The fence seems very solid to me and is very adjustable so it can be fine tuned (which needs a bit of time and patience to get right). Obviously it doesn't have cast iron side...

    Build dinghy outside?

The problem I always have with jigsaws is not so much following the line (although I agree that's not always easy), but the fact that they don't cut square - i.e. even if you're following the line on the top, you might not be underneath. I suspect that the quality and sharpness of the blade...
